2014 Jets' rivals
« on: December 27, 2013, 10:51:57 AM »
Taken from here http://thejetsblog.com/bga/

Home Games

Denver Broncos
Oakland Raiders
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Baltimore Ravens or Pittsburgh Steelers*
New England Patriots
Miami Dolphins
Buffalo Bills

* This is complicated but check the standings afterwards and the Jets will face whichever team ends up in the same position (ie 2nd if the Jets win or 3rd if they lose) in their division.

Road Games

Kansas City
San Diego
Green Bay
Minnesota
Jacksonville (if the Jets don’t win on Sunday) or Tennessee (if the Jets win on Sunday)
Buffalo
Miami
New England

My understanding is that if the Jets win on Sunday they will finish second in the division by virtue of having a better divisional record than the Dolphins. (Please correct me if you know this to be wrong).

The full schedule is usually released in April.

That schedule is brutal.

Also, the Raiders may as well join our division. How many times in the past decade-plus have we played them? It seems like we play them every year.
Teams that draft well do so no matter where they pick. Teams that draft poorly do so no matter where they pick I want my team to win games and draft well

Also got to wonder, which of those opposing teams could hire Rex.

Teams with coaches on the hotseat were playing

Vikings/Raiders/Lions/Titans/Dolphins (of course I cant see the Dolphins HC getting fired, unless they lose to us this week, in which case Rex being gone is less likely?)

Definitely potential to see a divorce matchup there, though I think the Lions are the most likely of the bunch

You're becoming a little bit obsessive with this whole thing now.

Not at all.

Just seeing our schedule it stands out that we will be playing roughly half of the teams expected to replace their HCs next season

all I'm thinking about is possible tailgate game scenarios
My dad always says he's undefeated at tailgating

Maybe it's not I who doesn't know what he's talking about

The last three years were Buffalo, Houston and New England. Pittsburgh and Chicago will be expensive tickets because they have huge travelling fanbases, but I have a buddy who is a huge Steelers fan so that would probably get my vote as I expect he would come to that game as well.

Keep in mind that you can expect a few of those good teams to excrement the bed as some teams do every year.  No one wanted the Texans on their schedule this year.  They turned out to be a crusty turd.

How can a schedule be tough (or easy) when we don't know what these teams will even look like  by the time we play them ?

That's  a killer schedule. We better tool up big time if we even want to think about the play offs.

Good choices for the tailgate game though.

Tough call for the tailgate, never seen manning live, but to be totally honest, I would love to see our defense against Megatron and Reggie Bush.

So my vote for the tailgate would be Detroit.
Need a new one for a new board...
