Possible Jets HC Candidates

Now that Rex being fired is all but decided, it's time to look at some realistic options for HC next year.  Obviously the GM decision will factor in too, but this is mainly to throw names out there that are possible either way.

- Jim Harbaugh
- Gus Malzahn

I think the search will be wide open.  I just hope they go with an offensive HC that can develop a QB, and hates Geno Smith.

I can't imagine that any offensive mind would want Geno around.

if there is, Idzik will find him and hire him.  Causing a mass suicide that would include you and I.

Any other names?

- Dan Quinn (Seattle DC - obvious connection to Idzik)
- Josh McDaniels (spitballing here)
- Adam Gase (sans Peyton of course)
- Bill Cowher (obligatory rumor)
- Jon Gruden (obligatory rumor 2)

If Idzik is making the decision, IMO, Todd Bowles is a front runner. Card's defensive coordinator and a local Jersey Guy. May not be a popular choice since the Jets really need a smart offensive mind. Bowles is well respected by his players and many in the NFL.

We have a guy now that the players respect. We need an offensive mind.

If it's up to Idzik, he'll try to get Dan Quinn over Todd Bowles

We just need a good coach. I'd prefer an offensive one since we haven't had one in two decades, but a good coach should be able to create an environment in which a quarterback can succeed in, particularly with the right assistants in place. We shouldn't rule out defensive coaches if they are the best ones out there.

What I like about Bowles he has a strong background in the secondary, a major weakness on the team. Quinn is a strong possibility, good point, Seattle connection and another Jersey Guy. When are the Jets going to hire an experienced HC, instead of 1st year defensive coaches????

If Idzik replaces Rex with another "defensive guy" he should immediately be fired.

And id also be surprised if we brought in Bowles

Since Graves is Idzik's right hand man, and as soon as Graves was fired in Arizona Bowles was immediately brought in by Grave's replacement.

Just seems a little odd there (ok maybe thats a stretch)

But the thought of us bringing in a defensive guy is freaking retarded

Especially since Arizona and Seattle havent exactly done great jobs at building offenses. Seattles offense has been incredibly efficent, but I give that credit to their defense more than anybody
