I loved my school for this. Completely open campus policy from 11 years old on in Manhattan was incredible.

Where did you go to HS? I went to Xavier.

So did I, in CT.
My dad always says he's undefeated at tailgating

Maybe it's not I who doesn't know what he's talking about

Your school is connected to Xaverian High School in Brooklyn though.

makes perfect sense that it would be a hipster school.

We weren't allowed to leave campus, and we had to take seven classes all four years.  You had to get an off campus permit to go to a doctor's appt and excrement, and they were hard to come by.  Readmit forms to get into class the next day and show why you were absent were always sitting right behind the desk.  We took a shitload of them every year.  The guards made it really tough to get off campus, but we'd go smoke in my buddy's Vanagon or even freak chicks occasionally (separate times I. That one obviously).  There were guards at each exit, but only one guy patrolling all three lots who we called Mario for his hair and mustache.  I don't think he had any sense of smell because we never got caught.

Had another friend who stole alcohol constantly from the grocery store and sold it out of his trunk on campus to rich kids.  Paid for him to restore his POS old Mustang.

You didn't get any free periods by senior year? I never got the feeling that it was a relatively new concept.

If I had first or last period free I could come in late or leave early (unless I had track practice) but any middle of the day free periods had to be spent in the building (library, cafeteria, the joke of a "senior lounge").

Most people had a free at least part of the year in senior year. I never had one the entire time I was in the school. My schedule just worked out that way. I didn't even take extra classes. Hell, I wasn't even in any advanced classes (unless you count the one AP Religion class I took for half a year in senior year).
Teams that draft well do so no matter where they pick. Teams that draft poorly do so no matter where they pick I want my team to win games and draft well

We weren't allowed "free" periods, we just turned cutting class into an art form. We had more than 20 security guards at our school which sometimes made it interesting. It usually depended on how "cool" your teacher was on whether or not you got written up.

Suffice to say, I spent a lot of time in the Dean's office, and I was a regular at supervision (official detention) and the in-school suspension room. It was all worth it.

I never skipped.  I was too afraid to get caught.  I would have been too.  I suck at being sneaky.
