This. Take the lead and be a badass on the field, that's it.

Most of the country hated Gastineau back in the day too, good.

Gastineau is several levels of poopchute above Adams, AINEC. Adams is loved/liked/respected from all accounts by his teammates, Gastineau was hated, almost universally.

A multimillionaire mocking a high school coach isn't a good look. You can win the battle and still end up a loser.

did you see the exchange? it doesn't matter if one is rich and the other is a HS coach, the carr brother is an absolute clown. he came at jamal for no reason, and then when jamal dished him some right back, decided to play the victim card, all the while clinging to the 'I'm a HS teacher' excuse while using 'then' instead of 'than'. the absolute state of that guy

I’m sorry but 3rd-and-15 still pisses me off. I was more of a Klecko guy.

You see, I always loved Gastineau because of skills on the field.

Back in the day I was limited to delayed highlights and never got to know of some his exploits off the field and the fact that he would have eaten himself if he was chocolate. He was part a great team in an era that will always be special to me.

Stories of him being unpopular with his team mates were exagerated but I recall a play off game against KC when the great Bob Trumpy who was calling the game with another great Don Crqui couldn't resist pointing out Mark sitting on his own on the sidlines;
"There's is Mark Gastineau sitting with his buddies...."

Im in the same boat. Carr threw the first punch. Jamal finished it quickly with a haymaker.

Then told the "teacher" to brush up on his grammar. LOL. My Prez.

Regardless of whether he deserved it, punching down is not a good look.

If I were the emperor of the NFL I'd go full Lou Lamoriello and insert strict social media clauses into all contract language.

This might be the ultimate Gastineau moment to sum it all up. Closest thing we ever had to pro wrestling on the Jets:

Gastineau-Slater fight, Sep 1983

I didn't hate Gastineau that much but Klecko was every bit as good, if not better, and wasn't an poopchute.

That was a front 4 for sure. Klecko could play anywhere on the line and be all pro, Gastineau, then Lyons and Salam. It would be fun to have a front like that again. Gastineau if he wasn't such an poopchute would have been a star.
