Restaurants that are pick-up only and still have a tip line on their receipts.  I'll tip well for table service, but at some point you just have to include that excrement in your price.

The standard restaurant download file for a credit card terminal includes a tip line, they're probably too lazy to ask for it to be removed. And I'm sure they're making a little money on those tips so there's no incentive to get rid of it.

Take-out only/mostly, no tip expected. A place that's primarily seated dining and whoever put together your takeout order is likely running an active bar or waiting on several tables, tips are good.

I tip a few bucks on takeout. usually 10%

they still have to put in your order, and box your excrement all while taking other tables. and often they have to tip out the bus boys etc based on total sales.

I tip well but I've never tipped on takeout. Only for delivery/waited table. Who would get the tip anyway.. the house?

If any of you go to a Japanese/Chinese/Korean restaurant in NYC, keep in mind that the staff are all hourly employees, and don't get to split the tips. Every single dime you tip goes straight to the house. Knew a bunch of students who worked at all types of Japanese restaurants, and they'd all get like $15 an hour but zero cut of the tips. I've never left a tip at a Japanese restaurant after learning that. freak giving the house extra money.
