I think there's a significant difference between "wanted him back" and "would have been prepared to consider taking him back on a vet minimum deal". I can see why he has more value to Minnesota than us, punching holes for AP is probably more important than trying to keep Cassel or Ponder upright long enough for them to underthrow Patterson and Jennings.
