There is no universe they can justify a DT.
Now there is a world (most likely one where half of Jets twitter off themselves in increasingly crazy ways) where we take the drafts top corner, and look to trade DJ Reed for a 2nd or 3rd.
It’s a horrible world… but it’s the only scenario I can see us taking a defensive player.
98% we go offense. But there exists the scenario where the first 9 are offense. Only 3 QBs (McCarthy is a smokescreen ala Levis last year in this scenario), all 3 WRs, 2 or 3 OTs and/or Bowers. No one wants to trade up and we are on the clock looking at a guy we have as a late first round grade on offense, or the best secondary player. If you want that second rounder back, and believe you can get it for DJ Reed, I can see a scenario where they talk themselves into it.
freak that, just trade up with the Chargers, go get MHJ or Nabers. Load up on OL with whatever mid round capital you have left. Take a few mid round dart throws, one on tackle, one on a guy with versatility and one on the inside.
