It’s time to start a dialogue
My dad always says he's undefeated at tailgating

Maybe it's not I who doesn't know what he's talking about

I still think I want a WR/OL more, but from a team needs perspective Bowers makes a ton of sense.

He probably does more for this team in 2024 than any other prospect in the draft and this team is the most “win now” team constructed I have ever seen

i'd feel better about drafting him if we traded down...my brain can't handle drafting a non-premium position in the top 10.

like that time we drafted a Safety at 4 when he was supposed to be the best thing since Ed Reed.

An OT or WR drafted at 10 can be a good player at their position and be considered a decent pick. A TE drafted at 10 needs to be a perennial Pro Bowler to not be a bad pick. TE at 10 is a complete luxury pick and we have way too old and fragile a roster to have room for luxuries.

EDGE is a better pick than TE at 10

I still remember when we took Kyle Brady at 9.

Yeah but at least we didn't miss out on any good players who would go on to be stars, so no biggie.

Brock Bowers should just go ahead and retire now.

The ONLY way Brock Bowers should be the pick at 10 is if our Top 3 wideouts are off the board.

I don't think it's a luxury when you don't really have a good one.

Our main issue though is that we have a bunch of stopgap veterans in key positions like tackle and receiver.  Opting for a tight end, even if he's a generational prospect, over a tackle/wideout is a choice...

But not really having a good TE is far less of an issue than not really having good tackles or receivers, which is a situation we're potentially in this time next year and which is why it's a luxury pick. You can win it all with mediocre tight ends but you won't win much with mediocre tackles and receivers.

I think we're making the same point though.

Douglas is going to follow that Eagles model.  They had Ertz and still went out and spent a premium pick on Goedert the offseason after Ertz eclipsed 1000 yards.
