Any state passing this revenue up is bonkers
And that's just sales tax. It's not accounting for employment and the resulting income tax revenue, or for the tax revenue from store front rentals on otherwise damaged and/or dying high streets, and probably a host of other things to boot. There is exactly zero sensible argument for not legalizing weed IMO.
The problem with many jurisdictions is twofold, a hangover of puritan values that have ingrained "drugs bad" into many people's minds, and a fear that the establishment isn't going to be able to capitalise on the new market. As soon as existing corporations with well established lobbies and good political connections are set up to own the market, expect the barriers to fall pretty quickly.
