Like I said before, it's the most tradeable contract an elite player has ever had. You can take him on a rental for one year, then if you need the cap space next year just trade him on again or even cut him with zero penalty.

No one is going to trade for him at $16 million per, and would have no problem bringing him back at 8-9 Million per and moving back to a 4th rounder if he is cut.

Idzik should call and offer their fourth rounder back.

Whether we get a 3rd or 4th pick from them probably doesn't factor into their decision as much as the compensation they could get from the team they trade him to.  It certainly could happen.

I guess their choices are:

-keep him as is.
-trade him and his current contract to another team and get compensation for it. This would assume another team is willing to keep paying him 16 million per year (for at least one year)
-cut him and free up cap space.

We'll see.

That's what people said last year, when the cap was much lower, and yet someone was willing to give up quite a lot for him as well as pay him $16M per. The rest of your post makes even less sense.

Teams are exploring dealing for Bucs corner Darrelle Revis, according to league sources, with some believing there is a good chance he will be dealt by the start of the league year.

During the combine, sources from several teams began reaching out to the Bucs about the possibility they might deal corner Darrelle Revis, and rival executives believe a deal could be possible.

At this stage no one is making offers, and the Bucs haven't contacted other teams about the Pro Bowl player, and are not shopping him, but talks could certainly progress as we approach the start of the league year next month.

If you believe this, then you better believe that Vick rumor because they have exactly the same amount of plausibility.

And where did that put that one stupid team that made the trade, not to mention there is a lot of talent in free agency this year, as opposed to last year.  The article said a poll of GM's said he would bring 8-9 Million on the open market, and our 3rd round pick would move back to the 4th round.

Idzik offering their fourth back was a joke.

Well, I think they'll either keep him or trade him.  I doubt they just cut him if no one makes them an offer for compensation.

I was told at the time it wasn't feasible that he would move on from Tampa. I think this suggests that it very much is. That isn't a guarantee it's going to happen.

And after all, they've got no reason to not state their exact feelings about that.

And after all, I have no reason to not state the exact number they used.

I've thought for a long time that it was not a done deal. I don't think it's likely that Revis isn't on the Bucs in two weeks, but it's a very real possibility. Keeping the third rounder and that contract gives the Bucs a ton of incentive to find a way to dump him somewhere.
