The Jets are cutting De'Angelo Henderson ahead of camp. RB depth will be Bell, McGuire, Powell, Cannon, Montgomery, Holmes.

Honestly, I didn't recall most of these guys were even on the team.

Valentine Holmes can’t play in 2019 so he doesn’t really count.

I hope TyMont wins the backup job.  His versatility sets him apart.

Yeah, I put Holmes at the end because he's a project player. I don't care who gets the backup job. Bell's getting the majority of snaps anyway. I'm cool with Montgomery getting the #2 job, I'm always a fan of pass-catching threats out of the backfield.

I think Ty Montgomery is a near lock to make the roster, especially with Maccagnan getting fired. I know Macc signed Montgomery, too, but he seems like a good fit for what Gase likes to do.

Montgomery is about a year-and-a-half older than Cannon and McGuire, but he's got a much more defined role and he's better. I like McGuire as a pass catcher, but Montgomery is far more proven.

To me, it's Powell vs McGuire vs Cannon for RB3 (and maybe RB4). Maccagnan's exit hurts McGuire and Cannon a lot. And I also wouldn't be surprised at all if our 3rd or 4th RB isn't even on the roster right now. With Douglas not coming on board until late in the offseason, he missed out on bringing in a lot of young camp bodies at RB. He might have his eye on final cuts on other teams to fill out the RB depth chart.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we sign a true power option at RB

I’d say the only shot cannon has is as a 4th rb, but ST ace. He was apparently becoming quite the gunner towards the end of last season. That said, he and Peake are both in real trouble trying to keep those jobs. Bellamy is almost certainly going to take one of them.
Need a new one for a new board...

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent CB Morris Claiborne is facing a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Per Rapsheet, Claiborne is appealing in hopes of a reduced ban. This would seem to be the reason Claiborne remains unsigned, though the veteran did work out for the Vikings last week. Claiborne is coming off a down year in 2018 that saw him earn PFF's No. 98 coverage grade out of 123 qualifiers at cornerback.

MARCUS MAYE
DB, NEW YORK JETS

Jets coach Adam Gase said S Marcus Maye has a nerve injury in his shoulder.
Maye was placed on the active/PUP to start camp and has yet to practice. Gase did not put a timetable on the safety's return and did not seem to be particularly optimistic. "There’s nothing he can do about this. It’s a nerve injury. That’s what it is." It sounds like it is possible Maye begins the season on the reserve/PUP, which would cost him at least the first six games.

The #Chiefs are giving CB Mo Claiborne a 1-year deal worth up to $1.5M, source said. He’ll be suspended the first four games of the season, which KC has known since they began negotiating with him.

Not sure why we wouldn’t do this considering our CB depth

I was all for bringing back Claiborne, but since he's getting the first month off, screw him.

I'm curious to see if any of the success Daryl Roberts has supposedly been having is real. I like him enough as a backup, but I need some convincing that he's a viable regular starter.

I think he's viable in the sense that he's going to have to do, but he's probably the top of the upgrade list. He's going into his 5th season as a pro now, I think we've seen his ceiling.
