Tim Weah has an interesting background:

"He is the son of former professional soccer player, Ballon d'Or winner, and President of Liberia, George Weah."

Plus he's a local kid.

On one hand, Italy didn't qualify and the States aren't expected to do much.

Presents a convenient excuse not to watch, especially considering I know the stadiums built for the event were done by migrant slaves who were paid nothing and died at a toll we'll never actually know.

On the other hand...World Cup group betting is usually some of the easiest money you can make in sports gambling.

The rumor is Pepi is injured but I don’t buy it. Geg and his MLS bias will bite the USMT in the derriere, I’d bet on it. It’s sad because this should be one of the best teams they’ve ever had. They have guys either young or in the prime of their careers playing at top European clubs now, playing in major competitions and it’s still a big question of whether they can get out of their group. Which, granted, isn’t an easy one.

Still think it’s thoroughly irresponsible that they’re a) playing in the country they’re playing in and b) playing this time of the year. FIFA is crooked as freak.

I don't get that either because why not just say he's hurt from the jump?  It makes no sense to keep it a secret

Blatter came out a few days ago and said it was a mistake to award it to Qatar but it was Michel Platini's fault. I'm guessing he anticipates issues, he doesn't want to get blamed, and the check has long since cleared and the cash been washed.

It just all seems wrong for me. I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I know the situation but even though his recent form looks good on paper—he has 8 goal involvements in his last 9 club matches—his recent form hasn’t been highly regarded according to some on the Bird app.

If Geg isn’t putting forward his best 23 guys, no matter what, then I hate the guy already more than I do. To me, there’s no excuse not to have Pepi in, at the very least, the 23. I mean, he’s a big reason Geg wasn’t sacked in the first place and we all know he can score (and he’s good in the air). Another rumor is they’re saving him for the Olympics which seems too fuckin dumb to be true. Regardless, he should be going to Qatar, no doubt.

I mean, it’s gotta be the worst kept “secret” ever. You go from Russia to Qatar. What the ever loving freak?? You have to play in November because of the heat, first of all, and then you got all these club paying hundreds of millions of *insert your currency here* to possibly blow a knee or Achilles out in a tournament most of them don’t care about (but freak the club owners too). Then you got guys like Chilwell, Kante and possibly Son who just got hurt who now may not represent their country now. And, that really does suck.

I mean…it’s always about the freaking money. Like you said the excrement is dusted and the money is clean…they’re playing in Qatar and they’re playing mid season. And, I’ll be watching every second of it i can too. :-\
