The Martian was great. You'd like it.

Did you just take that from a HS junior's summer reading list?

Those are Hemingway's three best books.  The Old Man and the Sea is one of my favorites.

And it's only about 80 pages long. There's no excuse for not reading it.

Steinbeck's my favourite American classic author though.

NOS4A2 by Joe Hill
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
Harvest Night by DA Madigan

Last three that I've read.  I'm re-reading The Passage by Justin Cronin because I want to pick up the second book in the trilogy soon.

The Twelve is even better.

I have been reading the Devil in the White City. I thought the serial killer part would be interesting but really I found the parts about building the World's Fair more interesting.

Thank you for the replies.

It's excellent.

You know there's a Scorsese/DiCaprio adaption in the works, right?

The only classic I ever read and liked was Count of Monte Cristo. I read that every few years or so.

The Grapes Of Wrath is one of the most powerful books I've ever read.

I really need to get in on those classics. The only classic book that I read without it being forced on me is Count of Monte Cristo.

I went through a phase of alternating between a literary classic and then something with an F-15 or a submarine on the cover. I'm more relaxed about it now but it was a good way of getting myself into the routine of not just reading trash, although I do still like crap espionage and crime thrillers. I don't enjoy them all and I'm not afraid to give up on a book if I'm not enjoying it, but I think a lot of the classics are more enjoyable in your thirties than when they're being rammed down your throat in your teens.

That's a real good point. I'm going to start with old man and the sea being that it's so short.

I've never enjoyed reading books, don't have the patience or attention span to sit there flipping pages all day. That and being a procrastinater at school having to read full books in the span of a day didn't help.

I may try it again at some point with a Kindle or audio book but never found the urge
