I would absolutely consider it. I'm not sure all the rules & regulations. I have this terribly family that has to follow me everywhere....
Unless you have a string of convictions for being a wrong 'un, or a DUI, getting a work permit for a US citizen to work in Canada in a skilled and/or senior role is a very simple paperwork exercise. Once you've interviewed and been offered, the company takes care of sponsoring it - if we had people available to do those roles in Canada then companies wouldn't bother, but a lot of Canadian IT staff head to the US for a variety of reasons. One of them is money, I think it's fairly well established that the wage ceiling is often much higher in the US but only you could make that decision based on your own circumstances.
As I said, happy to connect you with a couple of people to see if there's anything worth exploring. There's one guy in particular I know (although I haven't spoken to him in a couple of years) who specialises in executive placement at senior levels. He'd be my starting point.
