Can someone give me the quick breakdown on Oil vs. Electric heating costs?

There's a lot of factors in this. How well insulated is your house? How much is oil per gal? how much is electric kw/h? What region do you live in?

I bought a house as well guys! In TN $143K 3400 sq ft. CT was too damn expensive.

steves is pretty spot on. before i bought my house, i was able to chat with a couple neighbors and gauge cost of living in the area(utilities, internet/tv, heating, etc), maybe try that.

in general, i've always found oil to be more involved, and if it's traditional style oil(tanks on the side of your house, having a tanker come and fill your tank up every so often), it will likely be a bit more expensive to upkeep and more involved(unless you get a contract with a company that will monitor your tank levels and do all the maintenance, but thats expensive as well).

I used to live up north, near ottawa, in a rural area that was heated with oil, and during the 3 winters i was there, we had to replace the tank the second winter, and the next year we had to do it all again because the company we contracted didnt get proper permits for the work, and our insurance threatened to drop us unless we had it redone properly. expensive.

i live near toronto now, and i have electric and will never ever go back to oil. i have 0 maintenance other than cleaning my filter every 3 months. pricing is a bit more, buts thats only been the last year since ontario hydro rates went bananaS.

Good questions. I'll look into getting that info.

You were in CT? What part? It's all far too expensive

Bristol - company I worked for was bought out - headquarters in Nashville, cost of living is about 40% cheaper than CT and I got to keep my CT income. It made sense to relocate.

As a Queens resident I have no sympathy for CT housing market woes.

Bristol is a pooper - I have a soft spot because it's where I was born and raised but it's gotten a lot worst in my lifetime. Are you in CT? I'm familiar with most of the state.

For those unfarmiliar with CT, Bristol is where Aaron Hernandez was born and raised, carried out some of his first hit jobs for the Bloods.

Grew up on the shoreline, moved to West Hartford after college. Im looking at houses in the general area but taxes are insane, and you get a much smaller, older house in a cramped neighborhood when compared to other areas.

My family knows his family. I didn't know him personally but his aunt is my mom's best friend. I dated the girl that was in the car the car that crashed and killed one of his associates:
for reference.
