Jets file tampering charges against Patriots
« on: March 24, 2015, 07:58:22 PM »
ProFootballTalk: Jets have filed tampering charges against Patriots based on Robert Kraft's Monday comments about Darrelle Revis, per league source.

This is like the biggest freak you to the Pats. I love it.

Ha.  Awesome.  Probably less of a freak you and more of him trying to minimize his punishment.  I can't imagine the league will come down on him as hard now that he has his own complaint.

I was just thinking maybe they'll be like offsetting penalties

Smart play by Jets to file tampering charges on Patriots. League cannot penalize one team without punishing the other now. Also, funny #nyj

I wonder if Kraft called to apologize?

I wonder if Kraft called to apologize?

I heard Kraft said at his press conference at Roger Goodell's house that hes going to absolutely demand an apology from the Jets for this whole ordeal, once Goodell's investigators determine that the Patriots are completely innocent of all charges.

It's pretty funny, but Woody's statement was a lot more cut and dry. Kraft does seem to barely get on the wrong side of the rule, though.

Some of Kraft's quotes:

Quote
We thought we made a very competitive offer. I speak as a fan of the New England Patriots, we wanted to keep him...

We're sorry he didn't stay with us...

We'll see what happens. We understand that. He's a great player. The fan in me wishes he were still with us.

The rule:

Quote
Any public or private statement of interest, qualified orunqualified, in another club’s player to that player’s agent or representative, or to a member of the news media.”  The rule includes this example of prohibited statements:  “He’s an excellent player, and we’d very much like to have him if he were available, but another club holds his rights."

Both are probably guilty by the letter of the law.  Woody's was worse.  Neither was meant as tampering.  Either way, freak the Pats.

If you want to punish the Jets, take away cap space.  If you want to punish the Pats, limit the # of white skill players they can have.

Sweet, looks like we'll be picking up the #32 overall pick.  Options!
