Not his fault. For a depth guard with the ability to start, he was decent enough. I"m not saying he was even a league average guard, but he wasn't really expected to be one. For the nominal price we paid him, he actually worked out fairly well.

No, players only fit into two categories: 1.) superstar 2.) worthless pile of excrement

Colon was not good and he wasn't paid much for a starter. Front office was to blame for that.  Colon did exactly what older, cheap stopgaps do.  If we were paying him $6 million, I'd be thinking differently.

I don't have any hate for him.  But I certainly don't want him here next year.

I don't agree at all. He killed drives by doing stupid indisciplined things at key times in an offense that was struggling; I'd rather have seen a rookie in there making mistakes than an experienced vet giving up sloppy penalties. It would still have been cheap and we might have actually developed something.

Colon is entirely symptomatic of Idzik's blessedly short reign, cheap and excrement.

Also this.

It's funny, if this were a very good but capped out team that had a big hole at guard, and Colon held the fort for 2 years, he would have been viewed as a solid stopgap.

The guy shoved a ref. I think Jets fans have wanted to do that for years.

The guy shoved a ref.

He also killed multiple drives with other dumb penalties.  That has nothing to do with his ability or lack thereof.

Not to defend Colon too much, but we've all seen Genos pocket presence.

You'd have to think quite a few of those holding penalties were because of him.

Was Colon a fantastic player, not by any means.

But he was quite a good bargain.

I'd agree he was fine for a bargain player. I see where Johnny E is coming from too.

If he had been inserted as a cheap piece on a team up against the cap he would have been considered good. We didn't have a good offense so the few times we had a good drive going and he fucked it up it really stood out.

I appreciated Colon as a team guy but he was a walking penalty machine. I think he really appreciated being a Jet so for that I can forgive his excrement play at times. Definitely a lot of room for upgrade.

No penalties so far.

I asked a while back what people would think of his play if he wasn't a penalty machine.  He may go out and have 12 false starts next week, but so far so good.  Anyone have any opinion on how he's played so far this year?

The whole line has been quietly good in pass pro so far this year.

Nope.

To be fair, he got abused a few plays early in the game by Henry Anderson. He settled down though.
