I agree it's good for him, but I can't think of many success stories that involve players checking into rehab

Especially if it's for something more than just booze

It's impossible to write him off because he's just a kid, but I gotta figure it'll be a tough road

I don't think it's for any particular substance, unless you count PR as a substance. I think he has been advised to do this in order to make a public statement that he recognises he's been partying too much and is taking steps to change his lifestyle; I doubt it's much more than a couple of days of low level psychoanalysis and discussion.
