My bottom two movies I saw this year:
The Naughty Nine
Yes, this is a direct-to-streaming children's movie. Despite my adjusted expectations it still sucked. Every character is annoying. JE would have required hospitalization if he was exposed to this movie.
Shin Godzilla:
This one came up a lot from Godzilla nerds who wanted to excrement on Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse, so I figured I should check out what the big lizard purists were on about. It was disappointing. A large portion of the movie is spent watching Japanese bureaucrats in boardroom meetings deciding what to do about the monster, and the rest of it is spent watching a shitty-looking Godzilla squelch his way through the city. The acting was lousy and I usually cut a lot of slack for that in non-English-speaking films because I chalk it up to cultural differences and translation of dialogue. Hopefully Godzilla Minus One makes up for it when I see it next year.
