The Panthers have a new thing to worry about, as if they didn’t have enough already.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was involved in a car wreck near downtown today.

Details are few at the moment, but the crash included one car flipped over on a bridge and another involved, near the intersection of Church Street and I-277.

Dianne Gallagher of WCNC has a photograph of Newton being loaded into an ambulance.

We’ll have more on this as it develops.

Hopefully he's just on the stretcher as a precaution.

I'm so glad we live in a world where we can see someone famous strapped to a fuckin gurney.
Tom Brady kisses his kids like that kid from Glee who hung himself last week.

Maybe, whiplash is a frequent injury in overturned cars, which makes sense if you think about it. I hope it's just a precaution thing.

Here it is, via TMZ:

Quote
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was hospitalized after his truck was flipped over in a car wreck Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Officials say two cars were involved in the wreck ... Cam's truck and a sedan ... which collided on a bridge right in front of Bank of America Stadium where the Panthers play.

Cam was seen on his back on the side of the bridge where the accident took place ... grimacing in pain. Several people were seen tending to the 25-year-old QB.

We're told Cam kept trying to stand up after the accident ... but couldn't ... and eventually relented and waited for help to arrive.

Multiple emergency vehicles raced to the scene. Cam reportedly told paramedics he did NOT wanted to be transported to the hospital ... but eventually gave in.

He was placed on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance which rushed him to a nearby hospital.

The other driver's condition is unknown at this point.

Story developing ...

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been taken to a Charlotte-area hospital after being involved in a car accident on Tuesday.  Per multiple reports, the authorities have said that Newton’s injuries are not serious.

Newton’s truck flipped, up to four times according to one report.  Though the trip to the hospital was a precaution, one photograph from the scene show Newton immobilized on a stretcher.  He nevertheless was conscious and smiling after the crash.

For now, the most important news is that Newton did not suffer serious injuries.

I've seen 2 main themes in what happened:

Newton was clipped by a car and flipped
and
Newton was speeding and hit the car after swerving to avoid it, causing a flip

One is more likely than the other.

"Cam Newton was possibly seen grimacing.  His left cheek has a tiny scratch.  His hair was slightly out of place to the left also, indicating a possible temporary case of Bell's palsy.  There were rumors that his taint became visible for 2 seconds while being placed onto the stretcher and that it contained 473 hairs.  His right elbow has evidence of mild ashiness, but not his left (chronic masturbator?).  He was also noted to have potentially seen cursing right after the car stopped spinning and flipping, which could be the early stages of dementia from brain trauma.  Further details to come.

"Oh yeah, there was another dude in the wreck.  freak him, nobody cares."

Further testing revealed that Cam Newton has two transverse process fractures in his lower back and no further internal injuries.

If you recall, Tony Romo had a transverse fracture in his back and missed just one game. Cam Newton has of those two fractures
