And Tannenbaum was good, got us Mangold, Brick, Leon and Brad Smith all in that first draft and Chad led the way. Even if we got the #1 overall pick it won't help us because it will be Idzik making the pick and there is no clear cut #1 to make it easy for him, meaning he will blow it.

Woody isn't smart enough to fire both. He proved that when he fired Tanny and kept Rex.

I don't think he'll make the same mistake again. My fear is that he'll allow Idzik to stay and compound his failings.

The whole front office, including large parts of the scouting organisation, needs to be revamped.

If Rex goes Idzik has to go with him. Then we can all watch Sanchez, Revis and Cromartie in the playoffs while we search for another coach.

I don't disagree....i just don't think Woody will pull the trigger on Idzik. The guy needed help from an outside resource to hire a new GM in the first place.  He's helpless.

I have zero problem with getting a third party to vet candidates and then line up the interviews. I think it was quite a good idea. That said the execution and or the competency of the candidates is the questionable part.

To be honest, Idzik did seem like a good choice at the time. You can paint an amazing picture of yourself during an interview, and even talk a big game about what you would do when hired, but in the end you won't really know for sure until after a few months in. Believe me, I know.

The fact that whoever took the GM job had to keep Rex was a huge factor in Idzik getting the job. No one else was interested if that was a condition of employment.

Woody can clean house when the season ends and give whoever the new GM is full autonomy to enact whatever plan he chooses. That will change the quality of the hires made, especially if Woody is smart enough to hire a search firm again rather than rely on his own limited understanding of the sport.

Oh dear You know how to turn the screw. I have a bad heartburn and this isn't helping.
I keep thinking that when we get our turn it's going to be spectacular. It better be.
