42 arrests including 3 assaults on women?  Nah, he was a swell guy but it is interesting to note that nary a peep’s made about the other hundreds of us innocent, law-abiding everyday slobs murdered every single year in New York City by the very same people who’ve chosen to single out this shining martyr freaking out a car full of innocent slobs as some causes célèbre; the same folk who were pissed off at the coverage the crypto exec getting killed in SF generated. 

On one hand shame that a guy with 42 arrests (some for assault) under his belt met his maker.  On the other hand I’m not going to politicize it, ‘racialize’ it or lose an ounce of oxytocin-induced sleep over it.

Neely had been acting erratic on the subway, threatening riders and throwing garbage while asking riders for food.

At the time of his death, Neely had a warrant out for his arrest for a November 2021 case in which he was accused of assaulting a 67-year-old woman in the East Village

Yeah, if he had just shoved him and the guy fell awkwardly, hit his head and died it would drastically change my view on the situation. It would still be fucked up but I wouldn't hold Penny so responsible.
