Also, last night I stumbled upon video of the beginning of the brawl caused by Gastineau's sack dance against the Rams in 1983. If anyone knows how to get a YouTube video up (or cares), here is the link. It's kind of a cheesy music video but the play and fight starts at 2:43.

Great film. I still love watching the NYSE in action. That blow up with Gastineau was only one highlight of that game - Eric Dickerson galloped off a huge run to start the game. One of Richard Todd's great games.

You will like this one too, then. It's about 22 minutes, the 1981 highlight film with the great John Facenda narrating. That was one of my favorite all time seasons, the first winning and the first playoff season I ever got to see. I went to the Seattle and Baltimore home games with my dad that year, my freshman year in high school. The Dodgers also beat the Yankees in the World Series that fall.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed that! That uniform of the early 80's was the one I followed as a young man and I still love watching clips about these great years.

John Facenda had that commanding narration that made these stories so much loved.

Thank you.

Sadly that was Leon's last game with the Jets. The week before we lost Kris Jenkins, arguably at the time our best player on each side of the ball lost for the year in consecutive weeks. Shonn Greene ended up being Rookie of the Week, our second offensive player that season to do it, after Sanchez.

I was at the 1981 and 1998 games. The 1981 game was disappointing, the Jets had gone 3-0-1 after starting 0-3 and just sucked in this one. It was the first time I'd ever heard the expression "we came out flat", certainly not the last. The 1981 highlight film I posted shows the Walker TD that was called back, you don't see the flag, I remember it was a late flag, so I guess it was ok for the film.

Some trivia for baseball fans, that was the 4:00 game. Leaving Shea the scoreboard had the Dodgers up 2-1 on the Yankees bottom of the 8th of World Series Game 5 at Dodger Stadium. My dad and I made the long walk out of the stadium, under those bridges to the car, when we got in the car it was still 2-1 bottom of the 8th. That was when Goose Gossage hit Ron Cey in the head with a fastball and there was a long delay. Cey actually came back in Game 6 a few days later and got the game winning RBI.

The 1998 game was against the Atlanta team that made the Super Bowl, they didn't have QB Chris Miller that day but I'm not sure it mattered the way we crushed them. Had we held on to that 10-0 lead in Denver in the AFC Championship Game that's the team we would have played in Miami.
So it turns out, Italian Seafood was right an everyone can go freak themselves.
