30.   New York Jets (8-8)  - Previously: 32.
I loved a recent report that said the Jets' coaching staff was shocked that their veteran backup quarterback - the one who played for Philadelphia last year - didn't put much effort into winning the starting job. Oh, you mean the guy who drowned dogs with his bare hands didn't show enough heart? You don't say! Then again, if I were QBDK, I wouldn't want to win the starting job either; it would further expose how bad he is and would hurt his chances of getting paid for backup jobs in the future.

This Jets team is awful. Matvei had this to say in a recent conversation: "I thought you were too harsh on the Jets, but I retract that. Without any talent in the secondary Rex's defense just unravels. You might want to erase John Idzik's GM of the Draft award on your site. This guy is worse than Gene Smith."

I only disagreed because Idzik didn't spend a third-round pick on a punter, but he's still one of the worst general managers in recent memory.

Really?

Really?

It's WalterFootball, he's willfully ignorant. Every year in his mock the Jets are "randomly" picking top 5.

I'm not yet sold on Idzik but that's going way overboard. He has done some things well, and some things badly.

I'll give Idzik 3 years at the helm before i lay any criticisms on him.

ESPN's ranking are such a bunch of horseshit.  5 teams in the top 10 LOST last weekend.  If we beat the Pack this weekend, is there any chance our ESPN ranking (#21, 2-0) would go above the Pack (#8, 0-2)?  I doubt it.

Why are people mad the Jets didn't fly up the rankings after beating a bad Oakland team at home by 5? Or mad about power rankings in general?

The Jets are clearly better than St. Louis, Oakland, Jacksonville, Cleveland, Washington, Dallas, the Giants, and probably Kansas City now given its injuries. As long as the Jets are higher than those obvious teams, it doesn't matter if people think the Jets, Dolphins, Bucs, Bears or Titans are a better team. The Jets will have a lot of chances to prove themselves coming up..

Colts are 0-2 - 13th
Jets are 1-1 - 20th

I see the lobotomy hasn't helped Pete Prisco.

The Colts wouldn't be 0-2 if they had played the Raiders.  They've had Denver and Philly so far, and the Philly game went similarly to the Packer game.
