Gettleman would trade both 1s and then some for Russel.

I would too.
My dad always says he's undefeated at tailgating

Maybe it's not I who doesn't know what he's talking about

Not sure I would, but if the opportunity exists then Gettleman may have little choice if he wants to stay employed.

Because he'll be 31 this season and if I'm the Giants GM and not in fear of my job I'm not giving up all my worthwhile draft capital for the next two years or more, plus giving him the monster contract he's looking for, when I have other significant holes in my roster that need to be filled. The Giants aren't a QB away from contending, but they might be a QB away from being good enough to keep Gettleman employed for the next few years.

If he trades for Wilson they've got nothing left in the tank. They have to win with what they have and I don't think they can.

Wilson is good enough to win with less.  He always has.

We’re seeing the greats play into their 40s. Wilson can get there too.

While i think you easily grab russel for 2 1sts, i would be worried about a qb who relies on his legs as much as him lasting as long as other qbs

He's never missed a game despite playing for long periods behind one of the worst OLs in the league. I don't know that he's any higher a risk of injury than any others.

I completely understand why someone would be willing to give up a king's ransom for him, I just don't know that if I were a GM I would. It will definitely be more than two firsts. I think I'd be more inclined to pay the price needed to get Murray, and if I'm Gettleman I might just prefer Haskins - he's a more natural successor to Eli and could easily spend this season sitting learning behind him.

Hate to say it, but Daniel Jones looks pretty good.  We'll see what happens during the regular season when he's going against less vanilla looks, but he looks pretty calm in the pocket and has shown confidence to make contested throws.

Could it be that the Giants actually hit on this draft pick and will make everyone else the laughing stock?
