In their defense, some of this may be "injury-only" guarantees, which aren't true guarantees.  May be more fluff than substance.

I'm actually OK with this. He's a young guy who was probably the best player on their line last year, he's putting in all the extra hours, and he's expecting his linemates to be as committed to succeeding as he is. I doubt that his sentiments will come as any surprise to those linemates, I imagine he speaks to them in person on a fairly regular basis and they're aware of his disappointment in their work ethic. If you're the best player in your unit and the hardest worker, I think you have the latitude to call the others out.

Maybe he has already tried doing it in private and gained no traction, and is now taking an approach of "freak you, you're not going to get away with undermining all of my hard work because you're too lazy to do anything other than that which the team mandates you to". It's the kind of thing I can totally imagine Mangold doing if he felt that his linemates weren't stepping up to the mark.
