Yeah, but that's the point - he wants to be the big star of the city even if he doesn't win the Championship. There are plenty of places he'll get that, but not NY.

Yes, he will.  James is the greatest player in the world.  He'd be a huge star in NY.

If he came to the Knicks and they don't win the championship, he'll get the blame for it. You know full well how unforgiving NY is on its sports stars.

The magnitude of it would be impressive though, possibly enough to overcome that. The last time a NY team had a player of  remotely similar status was when the Rangers got Wayne Gretzky. But it's impossible to predict the reaction by comparing it to a situation in a different sport nearly 20 years ago. Two wildly different personas as well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm generally well disposed towards all New York teams who aren't the Giants (although the Nets can freak off still) and I'd be very happy for the Knicks to get James and have a genuine shot at contending. I just don't think James would want to take the risk of being the target of the New York sports media and fans if it didn't work.

He'll get the blame no matter where he goes.

The converse is also true. In Lebron comes to Ny and wins a ring, he will become the best player to ever walk the earth.

Yes, but in his mind he's already that and can prove it anywhere. I think the downside of getting dismantled and pilloried in the media is much greater in NY than it would be at somewhere like the Clippers or even back in Cleveland.

True, but if he wants the world to believe he is better than Jordan, (which especially after losing this finals no one does) winning a title in NY, or god forbid it, multiple titles, would go a long way towards doing that for him.

Great trade.

Only issue is Calderon's deal length but Larkin AND two picks? While
Getting rid of Felton's deal?

I really hate Tyson Chandler.
