It's not over, but tonight was a reminder of the problems that have plagued this team in the postseason.

Fair enough. My take was largely based on your pitching.

The Yankees' pitching is good, but so is everyone else's this time of year.

The problem for the Yankees is the same as it's always been, like Badger said, the hitting.

But it's not that they "forget" how to hit. It's because this team is always built the same. Everyone is an all-or-nothing hitter (or not a hitter at all--see McMahon, Ryan). No one grinds out an AB. They take a big swing and a miss at an 85 MPH change, watch a 90 MPH heater right down the middle, then whiff at a curve 8 inches outside in the dirt.

It's even worse and more obvious when the full-count Captain is out of the lineup.

It's definitely the best rotation they've taken into the playoffs in recent memory. But the bullpen is thin (hasn't mattered yet this postseason), we're missing Judge, and whatever hot streak the remaining bats were on last week might have ended.

I'm glad you guys are more pessimistic than I am.

Did they forget how to hit, or run into a buzzsaw? Rasmussen was quite literally unhittable last night with his stuff/location

Also he took a no hitter into the 6th inning or so against them a few weeks ago. Regular season

The rays were clearly the better team in the regular season and this is the best lineup/rotation theyve had in a while. I wont include bullpen but they also have an elite closer which might matter more than the depth

Wow, pitching is really elite in the playoffs this year. Makes me feel a little better about us then.

And you make a really good point with Rasmussen. Dude deserves his own credit for being unhittable the other night.

1st team with 3 errors in 1st inning of a playoff game in 50 years. Great start.

And this is supposed to be the good defensive lineup.
