I just realized that for the first time in a long time, I'm like "Who needs x/y wide receiver?" instead of "We have one guy who can catch the ball!"

It is very thin after GW and AD right now (and that's assuming AD is as good as we think he is - he still hasn't proven THAT much at the NFL level). I'm good with Isaiah Williams as the slot in place of Cooper. But if AD gets hurt, this WR room is in deep trouble. And if GW gets hurt...

Granted, most WR rooms can't suffer multiple injuries to their top 3 guys and not take a big step back. But Arian Smith is particularly useless as a wide receiver right now, and Isaiah Williams seems more one-dimensional as a slot.

Agree, but that's viewing the situation in a small box.

Breece can catch. We've seen Braelon do it too. Then we have multiple tight ends that can catch.

I certainly don't have an issue with bringing in bodies, but I'd prefer to throw the ball to Taylor and Sadiq, maybe buck with Ruck a bit.

No matter how good we play this season, at absolute best I don't see us winning a WC game. Every rep that can go to a young player on the roster is valuable in a season like this.

My point is that we are very thin at wide receiver behind the top 3, and now one of the top 3 is hurt. It's great to say we want to throw the ball to our RB and TE, but other than maybe Sadiq, none of those guys are stretching the field at all, which puts everyone in a worse position.

As long as GW and AD are healthy, we are fine though, and the pieces complement each other well.

I also don't really care about the last paragraph yet. This team has gone 15 years in a row without making the playoffs. That is the goal. I don't expect them to reach that goal, but that needs to be the goal.

That's what is nice about this offseason. Jets gave plenty of reps to young players last year, but with no veteran leadership around them (and no QB), it was a complete disaster. You don't want to build the entire plane out of young players, and this team still has a ton of young players we are trying to develop, while also having veteran leadership to put them in situations to succeed.

The Arian brotherhood is being criminally ignored.  He had an almost catch that would have been borderline decent.
