Get ready for the shittiest officiating in sports to get even shittier.

Don't worry. Woody will be there to demand the owners give no quarter in negotiations.

Yawn

The NFL competition committee has submitted five rule change proposals for consideration at next week's league meeting.

Here are the proposals:

1. Permit the kicking team to declare an onside kick at any time during the game.

2. Eliminate the kicking team's incentive to intentionally kick the ball out of bounds when kicking off from the 50-yard line.

3. Modify the kickoff alignment requirements for the receiving team players in the setup zone.

4.Allow league personnel to consult with on-field officials when considering disqualifications for both flagrant football acts and non-football acts without being called on the field.

5. For one year only, to allow the NFL Officiating Department to correct clear and obvious misses made by on-field officials that impact the game, in the event that there is a work stoppage involving the game officials represented by the NFL Referees Association.

freaking make this permanent, for the love of god.  You could drastically improve the quality of the game by picking up roughing/interference flags when everyone with eyes and a television screen can tell they're bogus, but the on-field officials would get their feewings hurt, so nah.

Refs union has more balls and power than the players union, I swear.

I don't understand #2 unless they're referring to touchbacks? In which case I would have chosen a different phrase than "out of bounds".

On one hand, yeah, get calls right when the tech is right there. On the other, you'll get a lot more offsetting flags on ticky-tack "let them play" calls, with a lot of handsiness downfield even though it winds up being a good play one way or the other.

I think they should simply allow one more challenge per team per game, and allow flags to be eligible for challenge. I don't want 10 clock stops a game so the league can replay. And I also don't want to take away hurry-up offenses and formations on small infractions.

There's a very easy fix to that, the NFL simply decides to no longer conduct business in Florida. Does anyone really care if Miami, Tampa and Jacksonville still exist? They all care more about CFB anyway.

Good for him. I hope the Steelers suck for 50 years.

I agree completely.

I cannot wait until that fanbase has to watch Mike McCarthy fall to pieces and that roster age very quickly while Rodgers turns everything into his show this year.

I hope they do something asinine like taking Ty Simpson at 21 and this sets them on the path we have been on for the last 20 years.
Need a new one for a new board...
