paused a youtube video at the beginning of the vid yesterday, tried playing it today when i had some time

after one second of video play, an ad came on that was mandatory viewing that couldn't be skipped. waited until the ad ended, pressed 'continue playing vid'

vid plays for two more seconds, then youtube again cuts to two consecutive ads that i couldn't skip. wtf

youtube has been a problem for years. ever since the 'cool kids' monotonized the entire platform with their corny prank vids back 6-7 years ago, nearly every vid has become unwatchable with the mandatory ads you have to wait through before/during every single vid.

As the old saying goes: if the product is free, then you're the product.

I actually don't find Youtube ads bothersome at all. Most of the time if they even appear there's a Skip Ads button anyway, and I've definitely never had one appear midway through a video. Although I don't watch Youtube TV, 98% of what I use it for is music and DIY excrement.

I used to send sailors for disciplinary review for watching Young Sheldon and Big Bang Theory on their phones during watch.

I did it when I caught them watching any show, but I really felt like they deserved it with those two.
