Prospects attending the draft
« on: April 23, 2014, 04:25:11 AM »
The NFL released a list of guys attending the draft. Some expected, and a couple not so much.

Quote
Prospects attending the 2014 NFL Draft:

Odell Beckham, WR, LSU

Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida

Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama

Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina

Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State

Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri

Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina

Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M

Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech

Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois

Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State

Ra'Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota

Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State

Cyrus Kouandjio, OT, Alabama

Cody Latimer, WR, Indiana

Marqise Lee, WR, USC

Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

Khalil Mack, LB, Buffalo

Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M

Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M

Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt

Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia

C.J. Mosley, LB, Alabama

Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville

Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn

Bradley Roby, CB, Ohio State

Ryan Shazier, LB, Ohio State

Jason Verrett, CB, TCU

Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson

The last couple of years, they have had a handful of guys still there on the 3rd day. I think there will still be 2-3 guys there from this list. Also whats the deal with Cody Latimer getting an invite? I must have a very different view of him than NFL teams if he's getting an invite to the Draft.

They did the same thing last year. They want there to be guys at the draft each day, they're not saying that these are the guys they think are going in rd 1.

Well sure, but they had guys on day 3 they expected to go in the third, Latimer is a guy I see as a 4th round guy at best. Which is why I made that comment.

Latimer could easily be a Rd 2 guy, some like him as a top 5 WR.

Latimer really shot up the boards recently... of at least within the media.

I doubt he'd go to the draft if he didnt feel like he was at least a 2nd round pick. He may even slide into the back end of the first.

That's the thing about this class, it has the feel of what we usually see with cornerbacks. There are the top guys, but honestly past the top two it's kind of this amorphous blob of prospects. It's all personal preference at that point because the value is so close.

Even the top 2 have concerns. Both JG & DD are good players, but not elite by any means.

I took some heat drafting Barr over Gilbert for the Lions. Barr is clearly a much better defensive player. I picked up Phillip Gaines in Rd 3 who may surprise some, I really like him as a prospect.

I should have been more clear, I meant that this year's WR class is similar to what we see usually with corners (how the first couple usually go according to plan then it's all over the map). Though I agree this CB class is far from set.

Not trying to make this a trend, but I'm not sure about this.

We clearly disagree on some players in this draft.

This forum would be pretty boring if everyone agreed all the time.
