The reason they kept them all season is because they (Aboushi and Campbell) were projects, they wanted to see if they might have a shot at improving throughout a year and a second TC. In the case of Campbell if we see any kind of benefit before year 3, and by that I mean he's on the active roster, I'll be very surprised.

As far as Ijalana goes, I think they kept him around to be the guy that could be a depth player in the event we had an OL injury either to a starter, or to one of the dressed depth guys. That seemed to be their plan.
I have no idea what the FO thinks of those players, but they are all young and conceivably could improve (Ijalana further away from the knee injuries, Aboushi/Campbell in rookie seasons). None of us have ever really seen them play. Hopefully, the Jets are good at self-scouting to know what they have.

I'd be disappointed if nobody else were brought in at offensive line with a legitimate chance to compete, whether through FA or the draft. But how much value we need to put on that position depends on the self-scouting of those players. If none looks like they will develop into anything, then getting someone in the first 4 rounds becomes paramount. If they are showing a lot of promise, then bringing in another stopgap caliber OG (someone like Peterman or preferably slightly better), might be enough for now.

It's a need, but the biggest immediate need is for a OG that can push Colon and Winters or replace one if he gets hurt/sucks. The Jets drafted last year likely thinking Aboushi/Campbell would be the answer to that in 2014.

As far as needs go, it's behind WR, TE and CB and around the same level as S and OLB. If a good value is there, I have no problem taking a lineman high. But if the value isn't there, we don't have to take one too early.

Before FA, I think the Jets had a very obvious need to upgrade the offense early and often in the draft. Now, I'm not so sure they go offense at 18. I think they go BPA at any of these positions: WR, TE, OL, OLB, CB, and S.

They could literally go in any direction now and it wouldn't shock me. I suspect WR and TE will be addressed before the end of round 4, maybe more than once at WR. The Jets have a need at CB and the OLB has been neglected via the draft since the drafting of Gholston. I think this year is the year they end that drought.

I'd personally still love the idea of Ebron, Cooks, or ODB on this team, but I won't be upset if they opt for a plummeting OT (maybe Lewan) or OLB, CB, S....

Before the Johnson signing I was dead-set on "nothing but offense in at least the first two rounds." Now? I'd actually be just fine drafting (yet another) corner in the first round. If the guy is a potential top-tier talent.

There is depth at receiver in this draft, so I'm not going to worry if we don't go that way immediately. From what those who know better than I have said: tight end is a shallow pool this year, so if we don't get the best-of-bunch I'd rather not reach early.

I'm curious to see what Barnes and Pace do opposite Coples (who I expect to take a major step forward this year). So OLB isn't a "glaring" need for me (though I wouldn't object to drafting one or more either).

Rex's defense is predicated on his corners playing tight man downfield, so if he has the opportunity to line up a day one talent opposite Milliner, I'm not going to complain.
Teams that draft well do so no matter where they pick. Teams that draft poorly do so no matter where they pick I want my team to win games and draft well

Pretty much where I stand

There is depth at receiver in this draft, so I'm not going to worry if we don't go that way immediately. From what those who know better than I have said: tight end is a shallow pool this year, so if we don't get the best-of-bunch I'd rather not reach early.

I'd prefer a TE in one of the first 2 rounds this year. If they miss on Ebron, then ASJ or Niklas needs to be targeted in Rd 2.

I'm curious to see what Barnes and Pace do opposite Coples (who I expect to take a major step forward this year). So OLB isn't a "glaring" need for me (though I wouldn't object to drafting one or more either).
I don't think it's a glaring hole either, especially if Pace can hold the fort on 1st/2nd down and Barnes can stay healthy enough to be a pass rushing specialist. But we could stand to upgrade that position entirely to a long-term starter instead of piecing two stop-gaps into the position every year.
Rex's defense is predicated on his corners playing tight man downfield, so if he has the opportunity to line up a day one talent opposite Milliner, I'm not going to complain.

If Dennard is around, I'd be OK with it at 18. Otherwise I'd rather wait until round 2 or 3.

I agree that it's possible, but I still see this team going offense with the first pick unless we trade back and target someone like Dee Ford.  I would be perfectly happy with an OT at 18, but I think it'll be an offensive weapon at the spot.

I still think we go offense (WR) round 1.  Yes, we added some nice offensive pieces in Decker and Johnson, but when it comes down to it, both are virtually on 2 year deals.  Now of course either or both could end up with the Jets for more than 2 years but this team still needs to add quality, young playmakers that are going to be around for (hopefully) a long time.

Chris Johnson is basically a one year rental, so that signing shouldn't alter draft plans.  The passing game still needs a lot of help.

I'm trying to read your post but that avatar is too distracting.
