And now Beltran is on the 7 day DL with a concussion as a result of being hit in the face with his own foul ball in batting practice last night. Two broken bones in his face. Unreal.

Also, Tanaka is on his way to Seattle. That isn't good at all.
Teams that draft well do so no matter where they pick. Teams that draft poorly do so no matter where they pick I want my team to win games and draft well

freak beltran.

Also, if it's such a big conference, the yanks may figure they can have the best surgeons in the world give opinions and get it all out of the way

Damn that sucks.

Was your news feed also filled with Mets fans scrambling to report the news?

Masahiro Tanaka has been diagnosed with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament.

That sucks.

It wasn't posted yet.  Plus, I have nothing against the Yankees.

I was enjoying watching him do well this season.

It sounds like they're going to try some injections and he may only be out for 6 weeks.

I'd shut his derriere down for the season and hope he returns to form next year.  Let him rehab and get stronger.  Opting for Tommy John would have him out for a lot of next season too.

Tanaka needs to take the season and rest. The kid was abused in Japan, he has at age 25 season 1440 innings pitched. He has miles on his arm comparable to someone with an average age of nearly 35.

He's great and as a baseball fan I hope this isnt the start of something...

How young pitchers are treated in Japan is flatout criminal. Sucks for Tanaka, hope he fully recovers and doesn't have future issues with his arm.

Honestly, I don't blame the way he was treated in Japan as much as I do the way the Yankees abused him.

Playing higher-quality talent, on shorter rest, and being relied on as the ace in place of Sabathia, he threw a lot of his "junk" under more stress, and more often. It was poor handling. I even commented to my son in the last couple of starts that something "looked off" with him. He should have been temporarily shut down two weeks ago.

Anyway, I'm in the camp of shut him down for the rest of the year. The Yankees need to be sellers for once. Dump whatever you can, eat some salary, and bring back some prospects. It's time to rebuild a future for this team. Age has caught up not just to the vets, but is now having trickle down effects on the youth.

Getting rid of tanaka after one season seems a bit harsh. Isn't that throwing the baby out with the bathwater?

i dont think Alio wants to trade Tanaka, besides, he has a huge contract and a potentially very serious injury, you wouldnt get excrement.

The Yankees don't have alot of firepower to make moves. It could be tough to get value in their position for anything.
