Cane Ranks em up 2024
« on: March 25, 2024, 08:55:55 PM »
Took longer to be solid on my full rankings this year, but we’re here.

1-Caleb Williams-USC-Plays a dynamic game. Arm talent for days, and never out of a play. Can miss throws, but can make hyper elite ones.
2-Drake Maye-North Carolina-Has velocity and not afraid to move around. Still shows raw signs, but arm saves him. Justin Herbert-like.
3-J.J. McCarthy-Michigan-Trusts himself/receivers.  Makes some big throws, but arm not elite. Can move and create plays, gamer.
4-Jayden Daniels-LSU-Deep ball and placement benefitted greatly by skills around him. Can make tight throws but misses close a lot, too. Good athlete/runner. Keeps head up.
5-Michael Penix Jr.-Washington-Accurate, esp on deep balls, but streaky. Calm, confident. Mechanics are wonky/undeveloped. Tries to drive the ball most times. Totally unafraid.
6-Bo Nix-Oregon-Good and bad. Moves well, can make a lot of tough throws, but seems to only get comfortable when not standing in the pocket.
7-Spencer Rattler-South Carolina-Small stature, but moves really well, esp in pocket. Can make all throws, been through it a bit, which could help him.
8-Michael Pratt-Tulane-Big arm and can move, but has issues in the pocket with pressure.
9-Devin Leary-Kentucky-Stocky build, good arm. Gunslinger type backup potential.
10-Carter Bradley-South Alabama-Size, and a live arm. Moves well in the pocket and plays smart.
11-Joe Milton III-Tennessee-Massive arm talent, but super innacurrate and raw as a passer.
12-Sam Hartman-Notre Dame-Has produced. Smart, and has proven himself at a number of levels. Limited skillset.
13-Kedon Slovis-Brigham Young-Been all around. Moments of really good and a lot of bad. Has traits.
14-Jordan Travis-Florida State-Scrappy guy. Could be a good backup. Leader.
15-Austin Reed-Western Kentucky-Small, average arm.

RUNNING BACK

1-Jaylen Wright-Tennessee-A lot to like. Solid build. Patient. Subtle quickness and can make people miss in tight areas. Great straight line speed.
2-Jonathon Brooks-Texas-Great vision and super patient, but violent running when he gets going. Accelerates quickly. Hard to stop 1 on 1
3-Trey Benson-Florida State-Good speed and physicality. Wants to hit a gap and go. Good vision.
4-MarShawn Lloyd-Southern California-Really good player. Great body type for the position,
5-Audric Estime-Notre Dame-Physical, quick feet in the hole.  Bad workouts but the kid can play.
6-Ray Davis-Kentucky-Smaller, but solid all around. Can catch the ball. Good burst in open field.
7-Bucky Irving-Oregon-"Smaller, but plays tough and runs hard. Reaaally slippery in space. A lot of ""somehow, a 5 yard gain"" type runs. "
8-Blake Corum-Michigan-Small stature but strong build. Great lateral quickness. Fast enough.
9-Rasheen Ali-Marshall-Smooth, gliding runner. One cut guy. Violence to his game. Explosive, but lacks elite top end speed.
10-Isaac Guerendo-Louisville-Big play guy, averaged 1 explosiveplay per 6 carries in '23. Speed will be important.
11-Braelon Allen-Wisconsin-Big dude. Runs hard with decent top speed, but needs a second.
12-Emani Bailey-TCU-Really quick short area back. Fast, but runs violent when he needs to.
13-Will Shipley-Clemson-Good athlete. Has some explosion to his game. Seems like a role guy.
14-Frank Gore Jr.-Southern Miss-Small but tough and quick. Playmaker. Role guy/returner?
15-Dillon Johnson-Washington-Solid, tough back. Not super explosive, but can have success if given space.
16-Jase McClellan-Alabama-Big body, but lacks the extra gear. Like Brian Robinson. Just solid.
17-Tyrone Tracy Jr.-Purdue-Runs really hard, but acceleration after contact not great.  Has the top speed once he gets rolling.
18-Jaden Shirden-Monmouth-Small, solid build. Runs with good lean, and quick cutter. Not explosive, but top end speed is good.
19-Kendall Milton-Georgia-Runs hard, good size, but not a true power back. Lacks any elite trait, but can spell a starter.
20-Daijun Edwards-Georgia-Smaller body/build. Good subtle cuts, but doesn't have the re-acceleration of top backs. Change of pace with some pop.

WIDE RECEIVER

1-Marvin Harrison Jr.-Ohio State-Monster. Big body, fast, physical, great body control. Everything.
2-Malik Nabers-LSU-Super talented. Strong hands, aggressive after the ball + great body control. Explosive before and after catch. Acc is different.
3-Rome Odunze-Washington-Big body guy w/great body control + positioning. Can go underneath or downfield. Not super dynamic after catch.
4-Adonai Mitchell-Texas-Long, loose athlete.  Long strider so he's faster than he looks but can run sharp routes.  Body control + hands. Plays like Ceedee.
5-Keon Coleman-Florida State-Bigger athlete, dynamic after the catch. Natural playmaker who can return kicks and is a natural in the open field.
6-Brian Thomas Jr.-LSU-Big, fast, good body control. YAC ability separates him from other big wideouts. Dynamic with ball. Technical aspects need refinement.
7-Xavier Legette-South Carolina-Big strong build. Great control, and has a crazy second gear the ball in his hands. Doesn't separate well on routes.
8-Roman Wilson-Michigan-Tough, smaller but gets open all the time. Great for a role where he can play in the slot and be used in screen game.
9-Ladd McConkey-Georgia-Great feet and route runner. Dynamic with the ball and surprisingly explosive in open field.
10-Devontez Tez Walker-North Carolina-Big body, long athlete. Good body control and hands. Doesn't desperate as much as he should with his speed. not really elusive after catch. More a high end 2.
11-Xavier Worthy-Texas-Really shifty, esp. for his size. Good return value. Guy who teams are finding ways to use all over in modern game.
12-Javon Baker-Central Florida-Really smooth, good size. Technician at senior bowl. Body control elite and can run.
13-JaLynn Polk-Washington-A lot of good traits, but nothing elite. High end #2 type, with consistent hands and production
14-Brenden Rice-Southern California-Pretty dynamic at his size, smart, always finds holes in the defense and strong with the ball in his hands.  Good route runner. Mediocre acc into routes.
15-Jacob Cowing-Arizona-Good player. Tough, plays bigger than size. Great slot option.
16-Malik Washington-Virginia-Short, but stout build for the slot.  Could be a scheme fit for teams looking for a playmaker.
17-Ricky Pearsall-Florida-Solid all around. Smart and aware with good hands.
18-Cornelius Johnson-Michigan-Big body, productive, good testing numbers. Really underrated.
19-Malachi Corley-Western Kentucky-Former RB looks and plays like one after catch. Crosser/screen specialist, great in space. Not as fast/agile as elite playmakers. STRONG for size.
20-Troy Franklin-Oregon-Will time better on 40 than agility drills. Fast, long strider, can run a lot of routes. Not naturally physical but also not afraid
21-Jalen McMillan-Washington-Has more athletic upside than his teammates. Deep threat with good body positioning, and can run wide route tree.
22-Ainias Smith-Texas A&M-Stop start is crazy, makes for good returner. Definitely can be a weapon in an offense.
23-JhaQuan Jackson-Tulane-Small, but electric player. Good returner with suddenness.
24-Jermaine Burton-Alabama-Solid, does a lot well, not afraid to go over middle, but may just be average speed
25-Luke McCaffrey-Rice-Solid all around, but lacks the athleticism to be a gamechanger.  Struggles creating separation.
26-Bub Means-Pittsburgh-Bigger body for a speed guy.  Better top end than acceleration, but smooth route runner.
27-Jalen Coker-Holy Cross-Showed out in the drills at the combine more than the testing. Technical guy.
28-Jamari Thrash-Louisville-Small build. Shifty, but not a burner.  Role would be as a slot guy, but doesn't have the ceiling of others.
29-Devaughn Vele-Utah-Big body, doesn't play to the timed speed.  Throw up and go get it guy.
30-DeCorian Clark-Texas-San Antonio-Throw it up, go get it guy. Big body. Speed a question, but makes up for a lot with body control.
31-Ramel Keyton-Tennessee-Good role player. Body control and intelligence.  Made plays as a backup in 2022.
32-Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint-Georgia-Longer athlete. Looks the part, but is a body catcher without elite traits.
33-Ryan Flournoy-Southeast Missouri State-Doesn't play to his speed/athletic numbers. Physical body type.
34-Xavier Weaver-Colorado-Ok. Seems like a guy who could stick as a 3rd/4th wr. Nothing special.
35-Tahj Washington-Southern California-Small, slight, and not a good enough athlete to overcome that.

TIGHT ENDS

1-Brock Bowers-Georgia-Big, but runs like a receiver. HBack build and runs all routes.
2-Ben Sinnott-Kansas State-Blocking a plus. Willing and aggressive. Soft hands and can run any route. Plays like LaPorta.
3-Johnny Wilson-Florida State-Really he's a TE/big target, but an interesting option for a weak TE class.
4-JaTavion Sanders-Texas-Solid, thick build. Reminds of Delanie Walker. Athletic, natural runner after the catch. Uses body well.
5-Dallin Holker-Colorado State-Good athlete, good hands. Plays bigger than his size. Combine heights/times interesting.
6-Cade Stover-Ohio State-Solid, decent athlete and likes contact, but doesn't break tackles. Ok athlete. Looks like a #2.
7-Theo Johnson-Penn State-Top RAS athlete. Doesn't play to it. Capable blocker but not going to move the needle.
8-Jaheim Bell-Florida State-Interesting guy for what he is. Small, HBack type that can play out of the backfield a bit.
9-Jared Wiley-Texas Christian-Smooth target. Runs well and can run different routes.
10-Tip Reiman-Illinois-Big body and good blocker. Better straight line than as an overall athlete.
11-Brevyn Spann-Ford-Minnesota-good enough athlete. Good body control and can make some yac plays.
12-Erick All-Iowa-Pretty smooth athlete, and made plays despite limited opportunities this year.
13-A.J. Barner-Michigan-Solid, and can make congested catches, but more of a catch and fall guy.
14-McCallan Castles-Tennessee-Solid all around player. Looks/plays smaller, but can catch and run.
15-Trey Knox-South Carolina-Smaller, solid build.  Decent athlete.

OFFENSIVE TACKLE

1-Amarius Mims-Georgia-Honestly the best skillset of the class. Long, quick, strong.
2-Taliese Fuaga-Oregon State-Smart. Takes great angles and can move. Solid anchor, but lacks punch and lets defenders into his body. Gets beat with good hands. Gets good run push.
3-Joe Alt-Notre Dame-Choppy feet in pass pro. Can do it, but technically odd. Great once hands are on. Size makes him a waist bender.
4-Olumuyiwa Fashanu-Penn State-Much better in 2022. Good in pass pro and can anchor, but lacks power/drive in the run game. Super acive hands, but inconsistent hand placement/loses battles that way.
5-Troy Fautanu-Washington-Strength and athleticism to jar defenders, but not going to overpower. Length is good despite shorter height. Good movement skills. Can play tackle. Moves really well.
6-Javon Foster-Missouri-Held up with anchor SB 1s. Slides well and doesn't panic. Excellent vs UGA. Great, wide base for pass pro and delivers punch in run game.
7-J.C. Latham-Alabama-Strong when he gets hands on and good feet. Very calm. Never does more than he is assigned.  Build/strength says guard.
8-Tyler Guyton-Oklahoma-Great movement, lateral and in space. Locks on. Stays calm in pass pro and can recover.  Has lapses, and height works against him sometimes.
9-Caedan Wallace-Penn State-Better tools than most. Strong, good feet. Dominated JT. Played RT but skills to play either. A lot of starts, developed a lot.
10-Kingsley Suamataia-BYU-Good, smooth footwork. Active hands, readjusts and places well. Strong anchor and can get out and move. Played LT and RT. Lacks some fundamentals, showed it vs Texas, couldn't lock onto rushers.
11-Delmar Glaze-Maryland-Strong SB showing. Great feet and lateral movement. Locks in on contact. Good hands and power.
12-Roger Rosengarten-Washington-Good recovery. Doesn't panic. Feet are OK, but gets choppy. Very fit dependent.
13-Jordan Morgan-Arizona-Good feet, but bad hand placement and lacks punch/power
14-Patrick Paul-Houston-Heavy hands, but feet/lateral mobility are just meh. Anchors well, but could have issues with dynamic rushers.  Multi year captain.
15-Blake Fisher-Notre Dame-Strong when hets hands on, but not great on the move or laterally. Could honestly be a guard candidate.
16-Garret Greenfield-South Dakota State-Interesting player. Has size, experience, and great feet.  Not great in run game, so will take time.
17-Kiran Amegadjie-Yale-Seems like a guard. Doesn't move people, but agile. Better at angles than driving off the ball. Tackle size/length.
18-Frank Crum-Wyoming-Proved his athleticism at the combine. Power and quick feet as a tackle.
19-Christian Jones-Texas-Strong base. Not a natural in pass pro, but gives effort. Leans too much. Likes to move and drive.
20-Matt Goncalves-Pittsburgh-Prefers going forward, nasty run blocker, but a limited athlete.  Probably a swing tackle at the next level without great traits.
21-Walter Rouse-Oklahoma-Solid pass blocker. Lacking power in run game.
22-Andrew Coker-Texas Christian-Four year starter.  Good enough feet and can bully slow starters, but struggles with power.
23-Ethan Driskell-Marshall-Thin frame. Needs work, but size and decent feet will give him an opportunity.
24-Julian Pearl-Illinois-Limited, with average technique. Heavy leaner when trying to engage and doesn't have the feet.

INTERIOR O-LINE

1-Jackson Powers-Johnson-Oregon-Looks like a beast. Big, tough, moves people. Not great in space, but looks for second level contact.
2-Graham Barton-Duke-Moves well, and versatile skillet. Not a power guy but can hold up, works angles and smart (prob why the center hype)
3-Dominick Puni-Kansas-Long build, so looks like a tackle but feet aren't there. Strong base and attacks defenders.
4-Zach Frazier-West Virginia-Not a powerhouse, but anchors down well, plays smart, and uses his angles well. Understands how to set doubles and play cooperatively. True center.
5-Christian Mahogany-Boston College-Big people mover. Crushes players on pulls, and can push people around in run game. Can get lost in space/beat with quickness.
6-Sedrick Van Pran-Georgia-Very active, strong, wide base for pass pro. Does a great job working to 2nd level in run game.
7-Cooper Beebe-Kansas State-A Power player.  Not dominant in this, but definitely potential.  Good athlete. Could be more technical and can get beat by sudden strength/good hands.
8-Mason McCormick-South Dakota State-Moves well.  Good build and delivers a punch inside. Really good athletic numbers.
9-Brandon Coleman-Texas Christian-Got pushed around in SB 1s, but not his game. Strong, sturdy in pass pro, and aggressive and smart vs run.
10-Christian Haynes-Connecticut-Gets moved too easily. Dumpy build, not strong enough to play right away.
11-Isaiah Adams-Illinois-You can tell he's not comfortable in space. Played some tackle but can't stay there. Inside can grip, but lacks power when moving/striking
12-Hunter Nourzad-Penn State-Shrine game did well in 1s.  Moves well, and can pull and attack. Better angles than others. Tough.
13-Javion Cohen-Miami-Better than getting credit for.  Strong base. Harder time moving people than he should.
14-Beaux Limmer-Arkansas-Held up vs Sweat in SB 1s. Likes to battle. Got to the second level well, but hands inconsistent. Long arms.
15-Zak Zinter-Michigan-Steady, can move. Active in run game and holds up vs pass.
16-Trevor Keegan-Michigan-strong, battles. Decent punch and can hold the fort, and moves with good angles. Not good in space.
17-Gottlieb Ayedze-Maryland-Solid, can move a bit but awkward making contact in space. Better inside.
18-Sataoa Laumea-Utah-Anchors well, but limited with any space. Needs to be in a phone booth, but not dominant physically, either.
19-Matt Lee-Miami-True center. Great experience and a true leader.
20-Dylan McMahon-North Carolina State-Smaller, technical player. True Center, can handle himself against talent, but nothing special.
21-Andrew Raym-Oklahoma-Held up vs Sweat better than most in SB 1 on 1s. Good punch, but loses leverage/balance if it doesn't hit.
22-X'Zauvea Gadlin-Liberty-BIG dude. Power player who will get opportunities for size.

EDGE

1-Jared Verse-Florida State-Heavy, powerful hands. Great speed off snap. Can bend around tackles and bully through them. A lot of JJ in him.
2-Dallas Turner-Alabama-Just a natural at most things, but lets that take over too often. Not as developed as other elite edges/Will Anderson was. Kind of a tweener/SSLB.
3-Laiatu Latu-UCLA-Strong, and great hands. Good short area. Jaelen Phillips-ish with a little less explosiveness.
4-Chop Robinson-Penn State-Pure speed guy with best first step in the draft. twitchy/bendy, uses burst to work angles. Good hands. Josh Allen
5-Adisa Isaac-Penn State-Good edge tweener with smaller build. Smart. Best for 34 LB. Willing to battle. Athletic.
6-Austin Booker-Kansas-Tall, strong dude. Good athlete. Raw, only one year really playing. Natural talent gets him involved.
7-Brennan Jackson-Washington State-Strong hands and explosive in short areas. Speed to power. Uses angles well.
8-Bralen Trice-Washington-Really strong, more of a down lineman. Gets push, smart and has great hands.
9-Chris Braswell-Alabama-Strong at POA, and good with hands, but not super explosive unless it's short area power. Complementary piece.
10-Jonah Elliss-Utah-Tough, high motor. Small and short arms limits ceiling. Grit guy with passrush moves.
11-Cedric Johnson-Mississippi-Good energy, hands, and balance. Not a super athlete but gets the job done. Very physical with backup plans as a rusher.
12-Braiden McGregor-Michigan-Good instincts as an edge rusher, good hands and motor.
13-Myles Cole-Texas Tech-Played a 5T type role at TT. Bendy in SB 1s. Good hands. Strong leverage. probably fits best as a SS End. Long arms and overall build.
14-Nelson Ceaser-Houston-Strong base. Nice player. Looks like a down lineman with power and smarts. Tests will be interesting.
15-Jaylen Harrell-Michigan-Fine. Doesn't play to size, which limits him. Would need to be in some space as an OLB in a 34. Awkward in coverage.
16-Marshawn Kneeland-Western Michigan-Could be a guy. Not super explosive or twitchy, but has speed to power and leverage as an advantage.
17-Sundiata Anderson-Grambling-Developmental edge with a natural skill using his hands and bending around the edge.
18-Khalid Duke-Kansas State-Stand up experience. Pressured the QB well with moves and tenacity. Hustle guy.
19-Javontae Jean-Baptiste-Notre Dame-Not super bendy or explosive. Tries to convert speed to power, works sometimes. Not a full set of passrush moves, but works for it.
20-Xavier Thomas-Clemson-Bendy speed rusher. Byron Young clicked, maybe him, too. Dynamic, but gets swallowed after first few moves. Injuries and age as negatives.
21-Jalyx Hunt-Houston Christian-Former safety, super new to playing Edge. Great length and traits. Developmental player.
22-Ron Stone Jr.-Washington State-Undersized, but plays with power and knows how to use his hands. Technical player.
23-Mohamed Kamara-Colorado State-Undersized edge guy, but strong. More of a role guy who knows how to get to the QB.
24-Zion Tupuola-Fetui-Washington-Nothing special. Built like an athlete, but no developed passrush moves

DEFENSIVE LINE

1-JerZhan Newton-Illinois-Sudden, explosive off the snap. Great hands and short area quickness. Hustles. Dynamic, violent player.
2-Brandon Dorlus-Oregon-Tweener size, but great hands and athleticism. Does speed to power better than most. Small DT or SSDE
3-Braden Fiske-Florida State-Good leverage. Super active hands as passrusher
4-Byron Murphy II-Texas-Good hands and base strength.  Smaller, and it's an issue with larger IOL. Arm length will be important.
5-Darius Robinson-Missouri-Strong, 5T type. Explosive for size. Tweener who doesn't have the moves for edge, but slight/lacks consistent power for interior DL.
6-Michael Hall Jr.-Ohio State-Dynamic, but smaller. Long arms and likes to use athletic ability to make plays. Legit high level interior passrusher.
7-T'Vondre Sweat-Texas-BIG man. Quicker than you'd expect. Strong. Great hands. Just a monster. Doesn't play with great leverage, esp. off the snap.
8-Kris Jenkins-Michigan-Strong. Plays at the LOS, doesn't get moved off but also doesn't do much in the backfield. Lacks explosiveness, but has athleticism. Odd
9-Ruke Orhorhoro-Clemson-Interesting player. Long, and raw in terms of time played, but gaining. Battles. Great when he gets his hands in position fast.
10-Maason Smith-LSU-Natural talent, but underdeveloped technically. Projectable ability will keep him up.
11-DeWayne Carter-Duke-Dynamic, and can play on the edge if necessary. Keeps pushing, and uses hands well. Hustle guy.
12-Tyler Davis-Clemson-Big boy, but hustles and keeps fighting. Doesn't let self be blocked easily. Quick enough to beat mistakes.
13-Gabe Hall-Baylor-Smooth, a lot of plays in SB 1s. More potential than consistent production. Raw talent.
14-Justin Eboigbe-Alabama-Strong, hold ground 5t. Long arms and uses them well.
15-Mekhi Wingo-LSU-OK.  Nothing special, but smaller build helps him use leverage.  Can get overpowered on punches.
16-Leonard Taylor III-Miami-Flashes of brilliance but few and far between. Inconsistent, and low snaps.
17-Marcus Harris-Auburn-More explosive in game than his numbers suggest. Smaller, slasher DT.
18-Zion Logue-Georgia-Big body, take up space DL. Fits that UGA mold and will find a place in the league.
19-Keith Randolph Jr.-Illinois-Holds ground well, but not a who will make plays in the backfield. Hustles.
20-McKinnley Jackson-Texas AM-Short stocky guy. Limited physically, tries to bully through everything.
21-Logan Lee-Iowa-Steady, do your job type 34 End.
22-Jaden Crumedy-Mississippi State-Big, strong, solid in SB 1/1s. Doesn't move as well in game.
23-Khristian Boyd-Northern Iowa-Good quickness for size, but gets blocked. No plan, and underdeveloped.
24-Fabien Lovett Sr.-Florida State-Slower, relies heavily on strength. Meh on technique.

LINEBACKER

1-Payton Wilson-North Carolina State-Clearly the best LB in the class as a player. Big, fast, explosive despite injuries. That's the only question mark.
2-Cedric Gray-North Carolina-Tackling machine.  Always in a good spot, and used athleticism better than others. Bobby Wagner.
3-Edgerrin Cooper-Texas AM-Long, big hitter, good athlete and can blitz off the edge. Not really instinctive, puts himself out of the play.
4-Trevin Wallace-Kentucky-Strong and athletic. Solid build. Works his way through the mess and a menace coming forward.
5-Tommy Eichenberg-Ohio State-Hard hat LB, solid athlete who makes a lot of plays inside because of instincts.
6-Curtis Jacobs-Penn State-Solid build. Played a weakside/nickel LB spot a good amount for PSU, so used to playing in space.  Can run.
7-Michael Barrett-Michigan-Instinctive and explosive. Sub 6'0 but rarely gets bullied.
8-Jaylon Carlies-Missouri-Big safety, new age LB. 4.5. Hits, plays physical, sticks nose in. Can really run.
9-TyRon Hopper-Missouri-Really good size. Length helps keep blockers off of him. Explosive in pursuit.
10-Junior Colson-Michigan-Gets lost in the muck too often. looks small despite measurables. Not explosive
11-Nathaniel Watson-Mississippi State-Short area quick and strong. Can take on blockers and has quick, active feet in coverage.
12-Jeremiah Trotter Jr.-Clemson-Small and gets lost in the wash. Instincts not what they need to be, nor is physicality/consistency.
13-Marist Liufau-Notre Dame-Good size. Has speed. Super aggressive in pursuit/filling gaps. Big hitter.
14-Tyrice Knight-Texas-El Paso-Good athlete. Has length. Takes chances to make plays and a strong run defender. Less instincts vs pass
15-James Williams-Miami-Should have moved up earlier. Athletic times not great. Instinctive playmaker that needs to be closer to the ball.
16-Kalen DeLoach-Florida State-Really good player, just small. Uses speed well and can deliver hits.
17-Steele Chambers-Ohio State-Comes forward aggressively, and can run. Smaller, so needs to be an athlete.
18-JD Bertrand-Notre Dame-Your stock LB. Base level size and athleticism.  Instinctive and active in coverage.
19-Edefuan Ulofoshio-Washington-Active in the run game, long athlete, and can run.  Walkon who became a captain.
20-Jontrey Hunter-Georgia State-Smart, aggressive player. Battles through blocks. Interested to see workout times
21-Javon Solomon-Troy-Passrusher, but too small for edge. Great physical style in taking on blocks, but will have to adjust to space.
22-Jordan Magee-Temple-Smaller, athletic but doesn't make a huge play to play impact.
23-Darius Muasau-UCLA-Shrine made a couple plays. Old school guy. Not a great athlete, but smart, physical, savvy.
24-Jalen Green-James Madison-Elite small school passrusher. Pick him late and experiment as a downhill running strongside LB.
25-Jaylan Ford-Texas-Fine. Does his job, but not a standout athletically.
26-Maema Njongmeta-Wisconsin-Nice player, but times were horrible.
27-Aaron Casey-Indiana-Active run defender, but slow in space.
28-Lee Kpogba-West Virginia-Old school compact MLB. Could be a guy down the road.
29-Mohamed Toure-Rutgers-Good athlete, but limited as a player right now.
30-Easton Gibbs-Wyoming-Smaller, slow.

CORNERBACK

1-Quinyon Mitchell-Toledo-Tough, playmaker.  Ran well, too.  Good change of direction and closes well.
2-Nate Wiggins-Clemson-Super long, active hands and plays through ball. Plays like Sauce. Can run.  Weight is weird.
3-Kamari Lassiter-Georgia-Long corner. Plays smooth and cocky. Smart and aware, adjusts position quickly, good feet and super physical.
4-T.J. Tampa-Iowa State-Reminds me of Richard Sherman. Killer as a zone player but can play man. Instinctive. Likes to hit.
5-Terrion Arnold-Alabama-Not as big, but tough and physical. Gets hands on and can change direction. Aggressiveness can hurt him.
6-Kool-Aid McKinstry-Alabama-Really good mirroring skills. Not afraid to hit. Short area quickness good.
7-Cooper DeJean-Iowa-Nothing elite, but a versatile playmaker. Speed numbers will matter. Even his athleticism is more explosive than overall. I understand the safety stuff because he's smart and closes fast.
8-Max Melton-Rutgers-Great at SB. Tough, fast, can play slot or outside.
9-Cam Hart-Notre Dame-Big body. Super long and still has speed. Can really battle and play the run.
10-Mike Sainristil-Michigan-Love this guy. Gamer. Physical. Former WR with ball skills. Size suggests nickel.
11-Chau Smith-Wade-Washington State-Really sticky in coverage, matched up with Addison well. Aggressive and ball skills. Bad at SB 1s.
12-Ennis Rakestraw Jr.-Missouri-Preference is as a slot/safety. Physical and runs downhill with power, handsy, super chippy. Not an elite athlete
13-Andru Phillips-Kentucky-Change of Direction is great. Physical. Can run and be physical.
14-D.J. James-Auburn-Smaller, but aggressive.  Not afraid to create contact, and has attitude to thrive in man coverage.
15-Decamarion Richardson-Mississippi State-Has crazy size/speed, so he'll always be in the conversation.  Hung well with LSU's wideouts.
16-Deantre Prince-Mississippi-Physical and quick. Good fit fort he interior with size and change of direction.
17-Kris Abrams-Draine-Missouri-Scrappy, nickel type guy. Can run and change direction. Great for slot/nickel
18-Jarvis Brownlee Jr.-Louisville-Likes to mix it up. Can run, had a great offseason. Really blew up once he got to UL.
19-Khyree Jackson-Oregon-Tall, not overwhelmingly physical. Can run and disrupt receivers, and length helps with less than elite speed
20-Elijah Jones-Boston College-Smart and aggressive. Tries to make plays. Good workouts and size for position.
21-Nehemiah Pritchett-Auburn-Really fast. Feet move fast. Not interested in tackling. Change of direction iffy.
22-Renardo Green-Florida State-Smart, technical player who knows how to handle a variety of attacks.
23-Jarrian Jones-Florida State-True slot/nickel. Long and fast. Explosive and strong build to handle slot receivers.
24-Kalen King-Penn State-Smaller build/length and didn't run well. Fell off majorly in 2023 as a prospect.
25-Myles Harden-South Dakota-Didn't have great testing numbers,  but shined in drills from Combine and all star practices.
26-Marcellas Dial-South Carolina-Good feet for position. Can open up and run with top receivers.
27-Josh Newton-Texas Christian-Compact build. OK in overall athletic numbers, which shows up. Likes to get hands on receivers. Maybe nickel/slot
28-Caelen Carson-Wake Forest-Super handsy and chippy. Not sure how he'll translate. Special teams type.
29-M.J. Devonshire-Pittsburgh-Fine. Good in workouts and drills, sticky in coverage.  Nothing elite.
30-Christian Roland-Wallace-Southern California-Good size, but not great feet. Probably a safety.

SAFETY

1-Jaden Hicks-Washington State-Big hitter, long athlete, smart, covers, instinctive. Really good.
2-Tyler Nubin-Minnesota-Big hitter with range.  Playmaker. Smart player who should be able to step in right away.
3-Kamren Kinchens-Miami-Just an all around stud. Can cover, QB the defense, hit, everything. Bad times, great instincts.
4-Tykee Smith-Georgia-Really gifted player. Can play all over the defense, run, hit, cover one on one. Versatile player.
5-Javon Bullard-Georgia-Good time for him. Solid build and versatile.  Good in coverage, great instincts, major hitter.
6-Calen Bullock-Southern California-Range, ball skills. Skinny frame, but likes to come forward and hit.
7-Beau Brade-Maryland-Always gets to the ball. Super Active. Smart, works best as a freestyler. Super Hustle guy.
8-Dadrion Taylor-Demerson-Texas Tech-Good centerfielder with the ability to make plays in the run game. Well rounded.
9-Cole Bishop-Utah-Faster than you'd think. Interesting player. Did a LOT as a LB for Utah. Honestly fits super well there.  Size isn't there, but he's legit as a LB.
10-Daijahn Anthony-Ole Miss-Dynamic. Can play inside as a nickel defender or back as a safety. Runs better on the field than workouts.
11-Jaylin Simpson-Auburn-Pretty good.  Wants to be a playmaker.  Takes chances.
12-Kitan Oladapo-Oregon State-Solid player.  Tall, long. Makes plays. Good instincts.  Not an elite athlete, but can run and hit.
13-Sione Vaki-Utah-Really explosive hitter. Likes to play close to LOS and come forward. Smaller, sturdy build. Played RB.
14-Millard Bradford-Texas Christian-Works best as a nickel defender, but has played deep safety as well.
15-Jalyn Phillips-Clemson-Pretty legit. Not afraid to come forward, forced into man situations and handled himself. Kid can play.
16-Josh Proctor-Ohio State-Always around the ball. Pops up a lot on their D, smart and can tackle.
17-Andre Sam-LSU-Played all over. Aggressive in coverage and comes forward with purpose. Movement in drills will be important.
18-Evan Williams-Oregon-Old style player, but his physicality will be an issue. Coverage is a process. Elite special teamer.
19-Dominique Hampton-Washington-Long safety, a bit awkward in stance and movement. Aggressive in pursuit, but just OK in coverage.
20-Malik Mustapha-Wake Forest-Missile as a run defender. Comes downhill fast and with purpose. Smaller build.
21-Patrick McMorris-California-Long centerfielder, runs well for the position.
22-Demani Richardson-Texas AM-Physical strong safety, but lacks explosiveness as a hitter and in coverage.
23-Tyler Owens-Texas Tech-Great athletic numbers, but not a great player. Relies entirely on physical gifts.
24-Trey Taylor-Air Force-Thorpe award winner, Ed Reed's nephew. Smart, reliable player without great physical gifts.
25-Kenny Logan Jr.-Kansas-Gets to the ball and a reliable tackler.

This could really go on any thread, but we’ll keep it here:

Hip drop ban makes tight ends and big backs for valuable

The tweener LB/S types are also more valuable now due to the kickoff changes

I’m curious if we see this take effect immediately in terms of value of player “types” in the draft this year. Or if it has a delayed effect where coaches and GMS need to see it on the field for a year or two before “size” at those positions becomes even more valuable / at a premium.
Need a new one for a new board...

Those OT rankings are interesting. If the Jets agree with that, then trading down becomes a great option.

Mims is the kind of tackle that Callahan might push for at #7.

I like the player, but I don’t have as high of a ceiling on him as others because I don’t think he has the pure speed that I would want from a dude with his skillset. Without that, I’d prioritize other guys, so he fits into that late 3/4 range for me. This group is so deep that you can nitpick.

I’ve felt for a long time that both Alt and Fashanu were overrated by fans who were blinded by the expectations of what would happen in 2023. Fashanu was outplayed by his RT Caeden Wallace in most games this season, but only recently is Wallace getting attention. Alt is good, but not near a Penei Sewell like some people are trying to say.

To me, trading down for a tackle and adding a 2 is as good as it gets, outside of one of the receivers being there at 10.

I 100% agree that a Callahan pick of Mims would make sense. Mims has a top 3 draft pick skillset and has been dominant in his limited opportunities. Callahan probably turns him into a multiple time All Pro.

I think we really have to evaluate some of these guys as return specialists

Will Shipley
Isaac Guerendo
Tyrone Tracy
Ainias Smith
Daquan Hardy
Xavier Worthy
Keilan Robinson

Ainias Smith is electric. He’d be a great candidate.

I think overall as a player type for these returns you’d want a guy who was an awesome stop start athlete, with maybe a focus on running backs who are made for that one cut zone running style. Guerendo fits in there, and maybe later guys like Shirden from Monmouth or Blake Watson.
