Middle-late round steals
« on: February 26, 2014, 09:24:07 AM »
I figure we are likely to get day 1 starters in the first 2 rounds, but maybe we can steal a starter, or at least a 2015 stashable starter somewhere in the middle rounds too.  Particularly WRs are likely to be guys that fit this mold for us.

I was going to post a few players, but I can't place some of them after the combine.  Dri Archer was a late rounder at one point, now I have no idea. Same with CJ Fiedorowicz.  Here's a few others.

De'Anthony Thomas
Zach Mettenberger- Stash him and let him sit and develop.  Not ready to start out of the gate.
Bruce Ellington

Aaron Colvin

Put him on ice for a year while he heals and he could be a contributor in 2015.

WR Robert Herron
DE Jackson Jeffcoat (he's been dropping on boards)
S Vinnie Sunseri (if he recovers)

After the combine, Bruce Ellington won't be a mid-round pick anymore.  He was one of the most impressive prospects there.

Absolutely love Tripp, but I am concerned with his size.

Draft Brett Smith!!!!!!!!!  We need a new punt protector.  I actually really like the kid's potential, and he could see the field quite a bit with Ryan's love for wildcat.  He is Tebow on potential steroids.

I believe Mettenberger is already better than Smith.

Along these lines, I was trying to think of some players who would drop this year because of injury (or any other reason), but would have been higher picks.  Along the lines of Lattimore last year.  Doubt there is anyone of that caliber this year, but still.  Maybe we could use a 4th rounder on someone that would have been a 2nd rounder.

Not a late round steal, but I wonder if Roby drops due to his latest incident?  Doubt he'll make it out of the second.

Brandon Thomas in the 4th could be Colon's replacement in 2015 for the next 10 years.

Use the Revis pick. It's destiny.

No way, we are going to trade the 4th to NE for Revis and a betamax workout tape for Belichick.

Not necessarily Jet-specific, but Caraun Reid, DT, Princeton.
