Nobody should be surprised if Bowers is the pick. We came close to drafting Michael Mayer at 15 last year.

Bowers over Fashanu

If the board looks like that after 9 I can't believe that Denver don't call to try and get ahead of Minnesota, and that Minnesota don't try and trade up with us to stop them.

10: R1 P10 TE Brock Bowers - Georgia
72: R3 P8 G Christian Haynes - Uconn
111: R4 P11 WR Brenden Rice - USC
134: R4 P34 OT Javon Foster - Missouri
185: R6 P9 QB Sam Hartman - Notre Dame
256: R7 P36 EDGE Jaylen Harrell - Michigan
257: R7 P37 RB Isaiah Davis - South Dakota State

Top 9 looked like this:
1 QB Caleb Williams - Chicago Bears
2 QB Drake Maye - Washington Commanders
3 QB Jayden Daniels - New England Patriots
4 WR Marvin Harrison Jr. - Arizona Cardinals
5 WR Rome Odunze - LA Chargers
6 OT Joe Alt - New York Giants
7 OT Olumuyiwa Fashanu - Tennessee Titans
8 WR Malik Nabers - Atlanta Falcons
9 EDGE Jared Verse - Chicago Bears

Picks 4-8 would be a real dick punch for us to watch.

I don't hate Bowers. I'm pretty indifferent between Odunze/Bowers/Fashanu. I prefer Bowers least because he's a TE, but he looks like a special prospect.

As long as one defensive player goes in the top 9, we should have a good option at 10 IMO. And if McCarthy is there at 10, our pick should be a trade if the Vikings interest in McCarthy is real. We might even be able to move back one pick and pick up a free draft pick if JD plays his cards right.

Not sure where to put this, but Pelissero says that the belief around the league is that Washington are in love with McCarthy and will take him with second pick. If that happens then it seems 4 QBs ahead of us is pretty much guaranteed.

a lot of hype on McCarthy is being generated from Jim Harbaugh and teams are falling for it.  I want it to happen, because that's a win for us at #10.  But i'm not 100% sold yet.

He had plenty of hype before his college coach said nice things about him

I just want to see Minny trade to 4 to take QB 4, whomever that is. Leave MHJ and Nabers on the board at 5 so we can go up and get one of them…
Need a new one for a new board...

Not top 3 hype

We do this every year. The NFLs viewpoint on players is often times very different than the media / outside NFL draft circles on quite a few guys every year.

Two years ago NFL media and draftniks were mad at the Lions for passing Malik Willis in the top 5. He went in the 70s. Last year the top QB to slide was Levis. However many years ago draft media had Christian Ponder as a 2/3rd round QB and he went 12. Granted massive bust and total failure, but nfl guys liked him more than otherwise.

I am no longer surprised about QB hype.

And hell this may be total bullshit because the Commies think NE is gonna take McCarthy and want them to trade a spot with them to secure their guy.

Matt Miller's latest 7 rounder....Matt Miller *checks notes* is still retarded.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2024/insider/story/_/id/39806887/2024-nfl-mock-draft-matt-miller-seven-rounds-257-picks-predictions#r1

10. TE - Brock Bowers (Georgia) (passed on Olu)
73. S - Kamren Kitchens (Miami) (Jaden Hicks was taken with the next pick)
111. WR - Jamari Thrash (Louisville)
134. OT - Garret Greenfeld (South Dakota St)
185. TE - Tanner McLachlan (Arizona) (why the freak are we doubling up on TE?)
256. QB - Joe Milton III (Tennessee)
257. Gord - Brady Latham (Arkansas)

If Joe Douglas goes TE, S with his first 2 selections...he should be walked out of the building before the 4th round begins.
