I know the formatting sucks, but there was no way around that.

I’ve watched probably 300 different guys in this class, and my quick notes on 245 of them are in this post.

QUARTERBACK

#    1    Rd    1    C.J. Stroud    Ohio State    -     Good arm. Accurate.  50/50 off rhythm, but on time he's really dangerous.
#    2    Rd    1    Bryce Young    Alabama    -     Small, height and body type. Good arm.  elite traits are mental more than physical, but well developed player.
#    3    Rd    2    Will Levis    Kentucky    -     Volatile play.  Was hurt this year, but seems like a trait guy.
#    4    Rd    2    Anthony Richardson    Florida    -     All arm and athleticism, but just not a good QB.  Would take years to develop.
#    4    Rd    2/3    Hendon Hooker    Tennessee    -     Seemed to put a lot together, but also now with an injury.  Has the arm, system accuracy
#    5    Rd    4    Tanner McKee    Stanford    -     Has potential with his arm, but limited technically and with awareness in the pocket.
#    6    Rd    5    Tyson Bagent    Shepherd    -     Good all around athlete. Smooth. Maybe a scrappy backup with some tools.
#    7    Rd    5    Aidan O'Connell    Purdue    -     OK.  Longer release messed with his ball placement.
#    8    Rd    6    Stetson Bennett    Georgia    -     Tough, long term backup.
#    9    Rd    7    Jake Haener    Fresno State    -     Ideal backup QB. Accurate and tough
#    10    Rd    7    Clayton Tune    Houston    -     Solid  ok accuracy and trusts his receivers.

This is the one that caught me off guard as well. He’s a name I have t heard much of/about this draft season, but in quick cursory glances at the internet he seems closer to being rated as a top 200 player than a top 2 edge. Granted the internet misses on dudes every year. He’s also not in Daniel Jeremiah’s top 50 players either. Again not the end all be all, but I’m curious why he’s so high for you.
Need a new one for a new board...

There are a few guys that I’m way higher on than the consensus, and he’s one of the players at the top of that list.

First, you have to consider that this edge class is not a great one. It’s Will Anderson, a wide gap, then everyone else. I know people put a couple other guys up there, but I don’t see that at all. To me, you’d have to start any debate for Wilson, Van Ness, or any of the ‘23 edges with Karlaftis if you compared to last year’s class, because I think all four of the top guys from last year are clearly better than everyone but Will this year.

**This is also indicative of the class as a whole, which is super weak like #8-30 before you pick back up with a bunch of 2nd day talents that stretch into day 3.

Now, for the players. The more I watched the edge class, the more disappointed I was with these guys. Most of the guys have some significant weakness that keeps me from being excited about them, whether it’s Wilson’s lack of speed/burst, Van Ness being so raw, or Murphy’s ghost quarters. Even guys I like a lot in Hall, Ojulari, and Foskey all have some major knock.

Then we have McGuire. Of all the guys, he is the one who checks every box for me. He’s strong, can bull rush SEC tackles, disengages when he’s in the vicinity of the ball carrier, and can bend the edge and get to the QB. He uses his hands well and keeps leverage despite being a big dude. He really does it all. I don’t think anyone would say “oh wow, he’s elite!” at anything, but he does everything at a high level. In a group of flawed guys, I see him being the most well rounded player and ready to go talent outside of Will Anderson.

Other guys I’m way higher on than most:

RB Kendre Miller, TCU
TE Josh Whyle, Cincinnati
OT Tyler Steen, Alabama (though I think people are starting to see it)
LB Jalen Graham, Purdue
LB Jaylen Moody, Alabama
CB Jakorian Bennett, Maryland
S Sydney Brown, Illinois
S Chris smith, Georgia

To me, he’s just a late round guy. I could see him get picked or not, depending on what teams are looking for in a backup QB. The QB class gets crappy after the first 5, so either they could all drop or teams would reach to get the one they think is decent among the group early and pull some of the priority free agent types up.

I was expecting the formatting to be MUCH worse. This isn't bad at all.

Appreciate you sharing these.
