Car dealers are often wretched scum and I've never suggested otherwise. As I said, I just find it hilarious that you'd rather pay a premium to the manufacturers in order to avoid talking to someone than get a better deal from the dealers. If you think that being able to buy direct from the manufacturer is going to somehow save you money then you fundamentally misunderstand the entire business model.

But surely you understand that getting that better deal is contingent on possessing a certain skill, developing it, and deriving pleasure from employing that skill, and that many people - in fact the majority of the population - don't want any part of that process.  It's awesome that you enjoy haggling and are good at it, but it's confounding that you seem unwilling to acknowledge that others don't and aren't.  It's like you can't understand why I'd want to pay a premium for a loaf of bread when I could just bake my own.

Sure, I get that. I'm mostly refuting the suggestion that allowing direct to consumer sales will somehow create savings for anyone. Although it is funny to me that younger generations are so terrified of talking to people - the morbid fear of using the phone as a device by which one talks to other people is just weird, and I think unhealthy.

I'll take my chances with Ford/GM/Chrysler/Honda/Toyota/Hyundai et al all having competing direct sales models over over assholes trying to land a whale with every customer they speak to.
