We have got to be the team most likely to sign a kicker that gets cut elsewhere during TC
Need a new one for a new board...

That’s horrible. Ficken is not an NFL kicker and if Maher hasn’t fixed himself mechanically he can’t hit the broad side of a barn
My dad always says he's undefeated at tailgating

Maybe it's not I who doesn't know what he's talking about

Honestly, when we signed Maher, this is kind of what I expected. Two mediocre kickers going against each other, and hopefully they catch lightning in a bottle. Ficken wasn't great, but he wasn't awful, and I don't think he's actually ever entered training camp as the incumbent, so maybe that gives him some extra confidence. Maher is basically Nick Folk 2.0 in terms of being a Cowboys kicker who was good for a few years, then had one really bad year, and we got him on the rebound. Hopefully, he is as good here as Folk was.

I'm just glad there's actually a competition this year.  Last season's lack thereof was definitely a mistake by Big Doug.

I disagree, Ficken was awful

Maher isn’t comparable to Folk because he doesn’t have a long track record of success pre-injury. Maher has a bomb of a leg but only had 1 good season and then completely lost his accuracy his 2nd year in Dallas. Not sure if any of that was due to injury.

The mental gymnastics we used to do trying to convince ourselves that Cumberland actually had the potential to become a good player are still fresh in my head.

I doubt very many players from the last decade are in it.
