Surprised about Riley. I expected him to be cut in the final cutdowns, possibly stick on our PS

Yeah, I thought they'd shed Davis first but I guess he saved his job for now. Looks like Pinnock has passed him on the depth chart so #H2p

Ashtyn Davis ...should... at least be a solid special teams player because of his speed and physicality.  He is not a great fit in the Cover 3 that Saleh and Ulbrich installed when they got here.

I'd be pretty frustrated if someone like Will Parks made the 53 over Davis.  For those final few spots, they should be upside picks.  Davis is still young, he has elite straight line speed, and he isn't afraid of contact.

Lamarcus Joyner was our worst safety on Monday night.

Interestingly, I've seen the exact opposite sentiment from people believing it would be a shame if we kept Davis over Parks.

Will Parks is a 28 year old journeyman defensive back that made a couple tackles against practice squad level talent.

I don't understand wanting to keep him over Davis unless Davis just doesn't care about football or something.

Davis started for an NFL defense and made some good plays.  Fans fixate on his bad plays but fail to acknowledge those mistakes came in actual football games, not the second half of preseason games.

Fan here: consider those mistakes acknowledged.

Dude takes some of the worst angles in run support I've ever seen from a safety and repeatedly turned 5-10 yard runs into 30+ yard back-breakers.  I'll defer to your expertise on his coverage responsibilities and concede that there might not be better options on the roster, but in my book, he's a liability who takes the safe out of safety.

If we are depending on a free safety that much in run support, that's on the linebackers and Ulbrich.

As a third safety/nickel hybrid, he's fine.  He's fast and he hits.

I'm seeing a few articles for the 2005 Jets/Giants joint practice and the thought of people fighting Jeremy Shockey makes me smile.

Both DJ Reed and Jermaine Johnson hurt in practice today.
