2022 Top 10 Prospects
« on: March 06, 2022, 02:12:58 AM »
With 2 of the top 10 picks, it makes having an actual top 10 a lot more interesting.

This was my list on Jan. 28
1. Thibodeaux
2. Hutchinson
3. Neal
4. Ekwonu
5. Burks
6. Travon Walker
7. Hamilton
8. Garrett Wilson
9. Karlaftis
10. London

This is my list now
1. Thibodeaux
2. Ekwonu
3. Hutchinson
4. Neal
5. Travon Walker
6. Hamilton
7. Burks
8. Garrett Wilson
9. Gardner
10. Stingley

Really struggled on the 10th guy.

I was thinking about starting this after FA but anyway,

Hutchinson
Thibodeaux
Walker
Ekwonu
Neal
Gardner
Hamilton
Wilson
Burks
Dean

Dean hanging on by a thread at 10.

If I were making a Jets Big board prior to FA

Thibideaux
Hutchinson
Walker
Ekwonu
Sauce Gardener
Karlaftis
Dean
Stingley
Lloyd
Neal
Hamilton

Then the WR trio of Burks/Wilson/London are next. Even though I now think that ultimately isn’t the direction we go at 10 and we look to FA for that instead.
Need a new one for a new board...

Subject to change daily, of course:

1.Hutchinson
2.KT
3.T.Walker
4.Ekwonu
5.Gardner
6.Hamilton
7.Neal
8.Stingley
9.Karlaftis
10.probably London...but Linderbaum, Lloyd, GWilson , McDuffie all fine with me.

Top 6 is my current no-brainer tier.

Is it wrong that I don't want Walker because it would be boring? I know that's the wrong answer, but still.

One of my favorite plays of the year by any player

Walker absolutely murdering a pulling lineman against Michigan is fun to watch too.

I don't think that's necessarily the wrong answer. The Jets have drafted so many defensive linemen in the 1st round over the last 12 years that it's basically a meme on this board. Very few were billed as elite pass rushers, and none have been elite pass rushers. Walker seems to be more in that mold. If his pass rush doesn't improve, it is kind of a boring pick.

Walker looks like an elite run stopper with his measurables, film and skillset. The pass rush, particularly from the edge, is a work in progress. But with his length and athleticism and NFL coaching, maybe you can unlock more pass rush out of him. I am a little leery about taking an edge that high with his lack of pass rushing production and pass rushing tape, but if the Jets want to bet on that athleticism, I don't blame them. If he had the pass rushing production in addition to his measurables, we would never get him at 4.

The Brugler tweet reminded me of Sheldon Richardson tape when I first saw it. Not comparing them as players at all, but that was one thing that I loved when watching Sheldon videos at Missouri.

I'm not convinced I would want us to use the #4 pick on a player that we hope we can mold into something that he isn't already. Whoever we take there should be a ready made player IMO.

I haven’t watched much of him, but Walker seems like the player we paid JFM to be. Definitely useful and a great piece to a defense… but is he the elite passrusher we are dying for at 4?

I’d say that’s the reason Walker is 3rd on most of our lists, he doesn’t have the production. At some point the elite athleticism trumps guys with a little more production, but not over guys like Hutch and Thibs who has flashed that production on tape
Need a new one for a new board...
