Personal opinion, the Texans would have hired Flores if not for the lawsuit. He was the first candidate they interviewed and was viewed as the favorite from early on. They even waited until after he was fired by Miami before firing Culley. Yes, they were very interested in McCown to the point that it might have been neck-and-neck between all three candidates but ultimately the perception of hiring a head coach with zero NFL coaching experience scared them off. Once Gannon, Flores, and McCown were no longer options, they decided to look internally and Lovie was the most qualified internal candidate. He was already their assistant head coach.

The Texans hiring Lovie Smith is the NFL's biggest head coach hiring yikes since their last one.

First the Texans with Lovie Smith and now the Dolphins with *smile* Mike McDaniel:

Dennis Allen confirmed new HC of the Saints, which I think was the last vacancy left.

I've always felt Dennis Allen did enough to warrant another look as a head coach.

Raiders were an absolute abortion when he was there, John Madden couldn't have won with that team. He did a great job with the Saints d, and one has to assume his hire means a lot of stability in terms of retaining coaches on both sides of the ball.

Might as well run it back with a healthy Jameis (if they can find the money to resign him given their cap issues) given how vulnerable the division is now that Tommy scumbag is out of the way and Gronk might join him.

Here's hoping if Gronk retires he takes those freaking awful USAA commercials with him. Who's bright idea was it to create a marketing campaign where essentially a super rich athlete is trying to perpetuate stolen valor for a discount?

Leagues becoming a clusterfuck

I see them following the NBA down the road of some political abyss

reddick always has sound football takes whenever i've seen him speak, and he already has experience as a scout and in a front office capacity. peripherally, he comes off as a hardworking guy that is well respected by his peers

i feel like he's somebody who'd make it if given the chance

if a scrub like mike mayock was given a shot to hold a GM position for several years, there is no reason a guy like riddick shouldn't get the same opportunity
