When I first started cooking on my own that's how I made my chicken. Never had an issue. Thank god. Tasted good though.

Pork is safe to make medium rare.

Apparently only recently though. Still cook it medium or more just in case

It's been fine since at least 2010. Before that I didn't really deal with pork, just chicken and cheap beef.

Nothing inherently wrong with rare=raw chicken. And with chicken that has been raised well and processed well, medium is probably better than hammering it. Rare cage-free chicken is probably safer than any rare ground beef.
