I do respect that he actually grades guys on a curve though rather than giving everyone between C and A. Grading is dumb, but go out on a limb. Even if I don't get how we are a D unless you don't like Zach Wilson at all and you are punishing us for that.

Say what you will about him using hottakes like the Wilson thing to completely lower the grade vs everything else, but I think not liking Wilson and thinking we gave up too much to trade up for AVT are valid points. I think trading up for AVT is fine based on the OL situation, but two 3rds on a rebuilding team is a lot and wanting more shots at the OL is a completely valid point of view. The D grade seems a bit out of whack compared to reading other things but I think he seems to have the overall best grading system.

Really, draft grades in general are meaningless.

I'm not 100% sold on Wilson as being better than Fields or Lance, but I like him enough, and I've bought into the Saleh kool-aid enough to trust them. Building around him is vital, and since we haven't addressed OL enough in free agency, getting the best guard in the draft to plug-and-play is great. Trading up two 3rd-rounders for a guard isn't great in a vacuum, but I think it made perfect sense for us.

Our Day 3 picks outside of Nasirildeen and RBCarter aren't overly touted by the internet draft guys, but you can see a reason for all of them to be worthy dart throws at positions we need.

To people questioning the value of our trade, take a look at what the bears paid to move up 9 spots vs what we paid to move up 9 spots 3 picks after them. We moved up for essentially a 3 and a 5. They paid next years 1 and 4 and a mid rounder this year to go 9 spots.

Yes they got a QB but outside the top 10 I don’t believe the QB trade up premium exists to nearly the same level. The value difference in those two trades is massive.

To add an additional point...it's not like we're finding gems in the 3rd rd. Look at the list of our recent 3rd picks. I'd give up all of them for AVT

Nathan Shepherd

In 2019 I would agree. 2020 he was nothing special,  then again no one was aside from Q and Becton.

If he gets back to 2019 form he will be a big part of the rotation. If not? well his contract is up at the end of the season.

I have a lot more faith in Kyle Phillips taking another step than I do Nate Shepherd.  Shep contributed the year he got popped for roids and then went back to being an afterthought.

Daniel Jeremiah grade

I like this grading system. Doesn’t account for team /scheme fit as he obviously isn’t ranking guys with team fits in mind, but at least it’s quantitative as opposed to “they did well” rankings

So you're about as equipped to run a draft as 2020 Douglas.
