ND can play it safe and offer an experienced HC (e.g. Fitzgerald, N’western) the HC job or prevent Brian Kelly from bringing DC Marcus Freeman with him to LSU.  ND should show some gumption and tab Freeman.

Fair point.  Question is would Lanning want to (eventually) stay in the SEC by accepting the Oklahoma job if offered.
