They definitely do not have enough polling places for the population in NYC. Are mail in or drop box options available? Not that I would recommend using the mail system at this point.
So today my wife and I both completed our paper ballots (which we requested and received well ahead of time) and she dropped them off at an early voting location. Dropoffs don't have to wait in the big line, she was out in 5 minutes and we didn't have to "risk" mailing it. The line she bypassed was incredibly long.
My mom went to her early voting location and it took about 20 minutes.
My friend who lives in Canarsie went yesterday with her elderly father and it took them about 2 hours.
So it varies wildly by neighborhood, some locations have been tasked with serving over 100k, others only 10k.
Honestly I think the biggest factor is the social distancing requirements, it wouldn't look nearly as bad in most places if not for that.
