I just think when your primary concern about your blue chip first round pick is his conditioning, drafting his workout partner is an extremely clever way to provide a positive support net.  Especially during an offseason when he can't work out with team trainers.

If we got a player, that's obviously pretty great too.

Kiper said he thinks Clark can compete for a spot in 2020. Given our interior OL depth chart, I agree.

He’s also played all 5 positions and from what I’ve read technique is pro-ready.

I think it would be kind of questionable if a 4th round rookie tackle converting to guard is going to successfully compete with 3 guards making 6 + million, two of whom are on new contracts and one of whom we could save basically the entirity of his salary.

Base it on who plays best, not what money they make.
So it turns out, Italian Seafood was right an everyone can go freak themselves.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying if we decided that several guys were worth a good chunk of change, they should be more than capable of beating out a middle round rookie who is a developmental prospect switching positions.

You use the resources you have to acquire talent and then play the best talent. Veterans on the free agent market are going to cost money but it doesn't guarantee them a starting job. They should beat out a rookie, yes, but that's what camp is for.

The operative term here is “should”

The best thing for us is that Clark shows up to camp and smokes Winters, GVR and Lewis and earns a starting gig. If that happens (unlikely IMO) but I’d rather him be a RG that way we don’t have 2 rookies as the left side of our line. But if Clark is good enough, it might be a problem worth having to work througb
Need a new one for a new board...

Jets fourth-round pick OL Cameron Clark will be signing his rookie contract today, according to a source. It is the standard 4-year deal worth just under $4 million. #nyj
