How is it a hot take?

Nearly everything Douglas has done is correctable in 2021.

It creates a more enticing situation for a head coach.
It can be correct and also be a hot take, they're not mutually exclusive

Also to Heismanbergs point.  This is why we pay Gase.
If Gase is as good as he thinks he is, he should be able to get more out of Perriman than Jameis and Arians

I think most of these decisions are so that he can make the 2021 team in his image. This year, we're still dealing with a bunch of the contracts Maccagnan gave out. Next year, Mosley is really the only one we have to keep. Next year, his first draft class will enter Year 2, and Darnold is on the last year of his rookie deal.

And if Gase has a rough year, then it becomes a cleaner break next year if that's what Douglas wants.

Honestly, I'm cautiously optimistic about Perriman, but when the QB's go-to move is "freak It and Chuck It", a receiver's going to post bigger numbers than in a more conservative offense like our's.

The timing of this move (the same day as robbie) makes me think JD priority was Anderson but the price was the deal breaker

Perriman legitimately looked like he could be a No. 1 or No. 2 WR in the final few games of the season. Playing with Jameis definitely helps, but Perriman looked like the real deal. He was the least efficient receiver in the NFL in 2017, but got better at the end of 2018 and legitimately looked very good last year when he got to start.

He's a freak athlete. That's why he got drafted as high as he did. Injuries and poor play washed him out of the Ravens. He's big, fast, and he was productive last season once he got a chance to play and be a featured target. He has the upside to be a much more complete receiver than Robby. But the sample size is small.

Perriman also has a history of injuries that Robby doesn't have, even though you would expect someone with Robby's frame to get hurt more.

a rookie sam was able to make a big, athletic WR like terrelle pryor look serviceable while on the jets

will be interested in seeing what sam/perriman can do next year

the only thing i don't like about this signing is his fake first name

Playing with Jameis definitely helps

No, it didn't.  Bruce Arians helped Perriman, not Jameis.

In those clips I posted of his targets, Winston misses him so many times.  Of course he throws some dimes to Perriman too, but he had so many poor throws.

Arians showed the NFL how to use Perriman.  Put him in motion, line him up in the slot, get him moving...scheme him open.  Anderson was not a threat from anywhere but X.  Perriman actually has the route running ability and size to run drags and crossers.  We couldn't do that with Anderson.

The Jets absolutely need to get at least two more players that can line up outside.

I will miss Robby on the Jets but that dude couldn't even run a speed out or a slant effectively.

Way more polished than I thought he'd be

His ability to run the speed out and the skinny post will be huge for Sam.

Completely forgot this guy ran a 4.27 at the combine and launched his draft stock into the stratosphere
My dad always says he's undefeated at tailgating

Maybe it's not I who doesn't know what he's talking about

Connor Hughes:

Quote
Breshad Perriman’s 1-year deal with the #Jets is worth $6.5m. He has a guaranteed $3m base, and received a $3m signing bonus. He has another $500k tied to per-game roster bonuses ($31.25k per game active).

His cap hit for 2020 is $6.437m.

Basically half the cost of Robby

If he's not too busy taking it in the derriere, I'm sure Manish has already found a way to put a negative spin on this...
