Eagles are trading a third- and fifth-round pick in 2020 draft to Detroit for Darius Slay, per source.

Solid trade

Especially given the two thirds-would've loved to have seen it been us. Oh well.

3 years 50 million with $30million guaranteed.

I think our team would be better off spending $16.5MM on 2 cornerbacks given our lack of depth

Bingo. I’d imagine we can get Amukamara for less than 1/2 that
Need a new one for a new board...

Yeah, let's sign two crappy players instead of getting good ones.

That's some dcm level thinking.

Good trade for the Eagles but I would not have been happy giving those picks up for him. We're not at the point where we can gamble the team's future on a 29 year old CB.

I think we'd have been ok handing Slay the 16.5 when you consider any second corner we bring in at a value signing (Darby, Amukamara, Jimmy Smith) is going to have their salary offset by the gains we'll receive from immediately cutting Daryl Roberts worthless derriere. Everyone left is a question mark due to age, injury or both and can likely be had on a one year deal at cost.

Stone Cold Bless Austin and a corner taken in the middle of the draft is your depth at that point. But as Joey Tribiani says, its a moo point.

You know what, you're right.

Lets spend 55% of our remaining cap on a 29 year old cornerback and trade away two draft picks when
Kyle Phillips and Tarrell Basham are starting for us at OLB
Josh Doctson and Quincy Enunwa's corpse are starting for us at WR
amongst our other O line and CB problems

Slay is a short term fix we can't afford right now.

I'd rather give that money to Robby and another o lineman to help Sam.

Yep, worrying about the tradeoffs that need to occur between position groups is stupid

Yep, definitely dumber than, hurr durr "sign all the best players even if they're old and cost us young depth".

Darius Slay is not old and he's a great player.

Young depth that can't play is so much better than an elite starter.  Right?

Prince Amukamara is two years old than Slay.  He is less expensive because he isn't good.

The special teams player we get in the 5th round will be so much more valuable than Darius Slay, an elite #1 CB

I'm with you on wishing we pursued Slay and worrying about trimming the fat off the roster elsewhere in order to do it (Winters, Roberts).

At this point given the remaining options on the market (Jimmy Smith, the ghost of Aqib Talib, Ronald Darby's faberge derriere), Amukamara imho is the best of a thin lot.
